When Is The Right Time To Write A Book?
Short answer: NEVER. Long answer:...
"When is the right time to write a book?", you ask.
Short answer: NEVER
Long answer: ...
Whenever you tell yourself "I'll write my book when..." you make your legacy conditional.
You see...
Being ready is NOT that once-in-a-lifetime event, some kind of fluke or a state of being. Being ready is a conscious CHOICE.
Writing a book is like marriage.
The "real" work doesn't start the moment you exchange your vows with your partner in crime and love and say "I do".
That's the easy part.
Marriage is about re-committing to the person you tied the knot with day in and day out without fail, whether the feelings you currently have for them are endowed with something less than holiness.
And that, in essence, is where the DEEP work lies.
As a five times bestselling author and business veteran, all I can say is...
I wasn't ready three years ago when I first co-authored a bestselling book.
I wasn't ready two years ago when I first published my own solo bestselling book.
I wasn't even ready even when I became a five times bestselling author two years later and and or even when I got featured on TEd Ed.
I am not ready even now that I started writing my 6th book.
Will I ever be 100% ready?
I seriously DOUBT.
Still...
I didn't let my lack of "readiness" stop me from getting published and growing and scaling my business.
Not convinced?
One of our clients had a 9-month old baby girl strapped to her boob.
She was as "unready" as can be.
She was still "not ready" when she went from making $30k to $100k months before our book even got published.
Hey, she wasn't even ready when she became a multi-millionaire by the age of 26 breastfeeding her baby girl.
"I'll write my book when..."
❌ I finally have all this business sh*t figured out
❌ I get my messaging right (hey, in case you haven't noticed yet, your messaging is a living and breathing being!)
❌ the stars align, the kids grow up, or the time is "right"
❌ I have $ [insert the number here] smiling back at me in my bank account
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but...
As with all things of substance, anything worthwhile in life, whether that's getting married, starting a family or growing a business requires some level of commitment on your part.
What if what you see as chronic lack of time and constant "busyness" is just a lack of priorities instead?
Ouch!
I didn't see that one coming either.
What if what you see as not the right time is just RESISTANCE showing you where you need to grow the most?
What if "tomorrow" never comes?
As a rather timid teenage girl a cat's fart away from her 16th birthday, I thought my daddy would live forever. Me and my four sisters (and yes, in case you haven't figured that out yet, I'm a middle child!) eagerly anticipated his 50th birthday six months later.
The sad reality was completely different. Weeks later, I watched in horror as my daddy was wrapped up in black clothes, placed in a wooden coffin aged 49 and buried deep into the soil.
We all think we'll live forever, right?
If there's one thing I learnt about my dad's early departure it's this...
Time is not guaranteed to anyone.
The truth is...
Whether you currently feel a sense of urgency or not, writing and publishing a book is NOT for the faint-hearted as you need to have some skin in the game.
Your WHY and your desire to turn your movement into a global brand needs to be stronger than any fears, doubts and insecurities that may come up for you.
Whether you're currently ready or not, put pen to paper and get those inspired, intuitive ideas out into the world. Everything else is figure-out-able (pinky promise!)
Are you ready to become IMMORTAL?
I know I am.
Seriously, grab that pen and piece of paper. Pssst! You'll be glad you did!
