Because Content is King!

If you are serious about marketing your business through content, you need to focus on writing original content. However, since there is so much that is put out there on a regular basis, it can be hard to find something new to say.

Because of this, many bloggers and writers don't write as much as they should. Nobody wants to be accused of plagiarism, so they are always careful about what they say.

Lucky for you, writing original content doesn't mean that you have to reinvent the wheel. You just have to put your own spin on it!

If you are struggling to write original content, here are some tips to help!

Learn as much as you can about your audience.

The goal of content writing is to attract your audience. How can you do that if you don't know who you are writing for? So, take some time and figure out who you are trying to reach? What are they struggling with? What are they searching online for?

Don't be afraid to speak your own mind.

The best way to make sure that you are writing original content is to talk about whatever is on your mind. Even if the content isn't fully original, your opinion is. If you are stuck, you may want to read some other blogs and write your opinion on the piece, instead of just rewriting the facts.

Write more in-depth than other blogs that you read.

Most blogs just skim the surface, especially those that are lists of things, such as reasons for doing something. You may want to write a blog about each of those things (in more detail), than just skimming the whole list.

Go over your older posts.

As you read through some of your older posts, you may decide that you have more to say on the subject. You may even find one point that you think would make a whole blog post, by going in-depth a little more. It may also be fun to write an opposing piece from a different point of view.

Write about what you know.

The saying has always said to write about what you know. As a small business owner, you know what other business owners are going through. You know their challenges. Write about your own experiences, as well as things that you wish you knew when you were first starting out.

Don't be afraid to ask your customers what they need to know about.

If you are struggling to come up with a blog topic, don't hesitate to talk to your customers and clients. They probably have a lot of questions that you can help them answer (and then write your blog about).

Use caution when doing research.

If you find yourself doing a lot of research, you need to be careful. You may end up writing a piece similar to what you read. Instead, write notes down in your own words. Use this to help you craft your blog (instead of just copying and pasting the article).

Don't be afraid to ask for help.

You don't have to write every blog yourself. In fact, you may want to hire someone to write them for you! You can also ask for guest bloggers to help you get quality content, along with a bigger audience.

Coming up with original content can be hard, especially if you are doing a lot of research. You should always write notes in your own words, instead of copying and pasting articles. Even better, stick to writing what you know. If you aren't doing any research (or very little), you will be using your own thoughts, opinions, and voice.
