How often have you wished you had someone to talk to when things got tough? Or perhaps you’ve thought of ways you could improve your mental health. Well today I want to share some tips and tricks I've learned over time to improve my mental well being.

Mental illness affects nearly 40 million Americans every year. Unfortunately, stigma prevents many from seeking treatment. If you suffer from depression or anxiety, these tips can help you overcome these conditions.

You don't have to be depressed forever. There are lots of things you can do to improve your mood. When you start feeling down, try these tips and tricks to improve your mental well-being.

1. Take care of yourself mentally. In order to be able to take better care of your mental health, you have to first understand how it works. If your mind is not functioning well, then no matter what kind of treatment you are getting for any illness, it won't work. Instead focus solely on improving your mental wellness. Make sure you get enough sleep; eat right, exercise regularly, try out different meditation techniques, do yoga, etc. You should never ignore your mental health if you want to achieve good results from any other medical treatments.

2. Find something that makes you happy. There are many ways to improve your mental wellbeing. One way is to find things that make you happy. Whether it's going to the beach, joining a club, taking classes, watching movies, reading books, having a hobby, hanging out with friends, playing sports, listening to music, learning new skills - whatever it is, just make sure that it gives you something to smile about.

3. Try new things. When it comes to mental health, it's essential to discover what works for you. As such, you should never give up experimenting. By trying out new activities and experiences, you'll get closer to finding those activities or things you truly enjoy. This way, your mood won't be affected.

Stress levels are rising across the globe. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression has become the leading cause of disability around the world. Yet, it’s estimated that only half of those suffering from depression seek treatment.

To beat stress, try new things. Explore different hobbies and interests and see where they take you. Try out new sports, join a club, read a book, or go hiking. Doing these things regularly will strengthen your mind and body at the same time.

4. Get Outside! Our natural environment has been proven to affect our overall health, including mental well-being. This is especially true if we spend time in nature without any distractions. There are many different ways to naturally enhance your mood. Here are some tips:

• Exercise outside in natural surroundings, like walking along a beach at sunset, going for a run in the park, or biking in a nearby forest.

• Spend time outdoors during daylight hours whenever possible.

• Take breaks from technology and connect with others on social media less frequently.

• Listen to music that makes you feel happy, like classical, jazz, or folk.

5. Have a Purpose . When we go through life, we have many goals that we set and pursue. But sometimes we lose sight of our purpose. One way to make sure you keep your focus on what’s important is to ask yourself what are my core values? What do I want out of life in general? Once you know, hold onto that! This can help prevent you from making decisions that aren’t aligned with your personal goals. You may think you don’t have time to figure this out, but it doesn’t take long to come up with a few answers. Don’t forget to write them down too!
