A little bit of rational selfishness can go a great distance. When David Steward could not make payroll in his struggling World Wide Technology, he paid his employees before he paid himself. This act of self-interest brought him to a level of an accomplished businessman before his company could even take off into the atmosphere.

It’s about contracts

In time, he would link up with one of his first contracts, AT&T. From there, Steward would capitalize on the ability to make connections in the realm of business. He would go on to be one of the wealthiest men in America who happens to be black.

Steward mapped out this journey by rejecting the notion he would always be poor and needy in Clinton, Missouri. His upbringing by his smart working parents led him to be just as intelligent in the business world.

By refusing to be let down by repossessors collecting his vehicle in the parking lot in the view of his employees, Steward powered forward under the steam of his own individualism. He grew a $100,000 loan into a multi-billion dollar business, thus making himself a billionaire in the process.

What put Steward ahead?

With his ambition to provide the best systems integrations to his clients, Steward stood on his square as a man about his business. His no-nonsense approach provided him with the power to overcome whatever challenges may have befallen him. His rational selfishness is what put him ahead of the rest.

While he could have been selfless and altruistic and allowed other companies to take his spot as one of the leading IT companies in the nation, Steward rose to the challenge and brought about his own idealism. This idealism was to ensure his companies received the very best services possible.

This way of thinking about how to trade with others where both parties benefit mutually became a hallmark of Steward’s business plan. He wanted to see success in his clients because he knew that that accomplishment residue would rub off into his own pockets.

Every dollar in his bank account

By building up one of the largest privately owned companies in Missouri, Steward has enjoyed awards and recognition for his endeavors. In keeping with the idea that he should be a man about entrepreneurship and respect, Steward has proven time and time again that he deserves every dollar in his bank account.

What is so outstanding is the fact that Steward never lost his soul. He could’ve burned out and become part of the problem. In reality, he dedicated his life and time to the building of the magnificent World Wide Technology conpany. It is no small feat he took on the role as founder and chairman of such a wondrous organization.

He kicked down the door

Due to his role as the leader among a throng of employees, Steward is more than poised to make sure the WWT ship is never sinking. To gather enough talent together, to bring aboard the best minds around, he definitely had to focus on being a force within an industry that few people of color have entered.

Steward didn’t care that he was black and going into a profession other than sports and entertainment. He kicked down the door of technology and supply chain services without giving any thought to whether he could do it as a “black man.”

It’s about making dreams reality

Seemingly, the thought never crossed his mind. He just took it upon himself to say he would never let any limits restrict him from pursuing his dreams and making them real.

David Steward is the consummate gentleman and entrepreneur who fashioned a world for himself from humble beginnings. His glorious accomplishments show how dedicated he is to his craft and how rationally selfish he is.
