“Personal development is a major time-saver. The better you become, the less time it takes you to achieve your goals.” - Brian Tracy

Whilst action is an absolutely crucial component in the bid for one to achieve their goals, it's also only the one piece of the success pie. There's other aspects necessary for success also, such as attitude, behaviour, and strategy. To achieve one's goals and success, action is indeed a non-negotiable, because making the decision to journey towards one's goals without any subsequent action, or actions, to support the decision, means that nothing is achieved, nor is there any forward movement or progress. The action aspect is basically the physical side to the journey. It's the "doing", and it's the engaging in the hard work. Many people tend to completely overlook the fact there is also a mental aspect behind achieving success also. We can apply ourselves to all the hard work we want, and be trying our butt off to generate results through the actions we execute, but it's like going into battle without a sword or shield. We enter the battlefield believing that we can take down the enemy forces, and yet we have no sword to attack them with, and no shield to defend ourselves with, exposing us to being quickly overcome and defeated. The same theory applies when it comes to pursuing our goals. We may believe we have the work ethic and capability to conquer our goals, but without the right mindset tools and mental preparation, we can often find ourselves overwhelmed when we encounter the likes of challenges, failures, rejections, and adversities along the journey. Many of us completely underestimate just how challenging and brutal that journey towards our goals really is. The greater the goal and reward, the more difficult the challenge. That's why we need to understand, that in order to achieve the best for ourselves, we have to in fact better ourselves first.

Considering the mind is responsible for our decision making, our thoughts, our beliefs, our attitude, and our behaviour, it's fair to say that we need it to be operating at its most effective, efficient, and productive level, if we want to achieve our goals and success. In a world in which we are surrounded by so many negative minded and pessimistic people, plus the fact that many of us struggle to overcome our own personal fears and doubts, our mind is constantly exposed to these type of success destroying demons. We can so easily become influenced by others, be dragged down, and be questioned, which in turn results in our fears and doubts escalating. We start to see failure as a clear sign to give in, we start to doubt that success is even possible for ourselves, we start to become impatient, we start to follow the advice of others rather than listening to our own heart, we start to become discouraged, we start to lose motivation, and we start to question the amount of time, money, and effort we are spending on this journey. All these and other fear, doubt, and influence fuelled thoughts start running through our mind. What defence does our mind have against these fears, doubts, thoughts, and influences? How do we keep focused and continue persevering on that journey towards our goals and success? That's where personal development and mindset training is pivotal. To support the actions that we are doing to reach those goals, we need to strengthen our mind and develop ourselves as a person, so we can better shield off the negative forces that can so easily penetrate our mind, and aid our resilience, drive, patience, willpower, and determination.

We are blessed to be in the age of technology where we can simply hop onto our computer or mobile phone, and have access to a plethora of information, right before our eyes. Included in that plethora of information, we can access a range of sites, courses, and life coaches, to which all can provide us the personal development and mindset training that we all truly need. So what does personal development and mindset training actually do, and how does it benefit us? Firstly, here are 10 benefits:

  • They help us improve our self-awareness and identity
  • They help improve the quality of our relationships
  • They help us better manage and control our emotions
  • They help us with organisation and prioritizing
  • They help us manage our time, anger, and stress levels
  • They help us transition from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset
  • They help build confidence and belief within ourselves
  • They help us unlock the true potential that lies within us
  • They help us to set goals, and ultimately achieve them
  • They help us to think positively

Perhaps you look at these benefits and think "whoop dee doo", or "sounds like a waste of time"? The truth is that you will actually find an overwhelming number of entrepreneurs, athletes, sportsmen, sportswomen, musicians, and other celebrities, who dedicate time regularly throughout the week to engaging in some personal development and mindset training. Why? Because they know it helps better themselves. They know it helps them to ignore the critics, the haters, and the mental demons within their head, all trying to devalue, belittle, defame, and demoralise them. They know it helps them to believe in themselves and their potential. They know it helps them keep focused on what they want to achieve in life. They know it helps them maintain a positive mindset. They know it helps strengthen their emotional control. We should never underestimate the importance of strengthening and conditioning our mind. Just dedicating 20-30 minutes each day to some sort of personal development training, be it a course, a short video, a podcast, or whatever source it may be, is all it takes to energize and stimulate our mind. It's from this personal development and mindset training that we then have the chance to put all we have learned into practice. It's like the theory before the practical. One is ineffective without the other. The journey towards our goals isn't just about achieving the goals themselves, it's about learning, experiencing, growing, developing, and maturing along the way. The more we experience certain circumstances and situations, even be it failure, rejection, or some version of adversity, the more mentally stronger and wiser we become. When we talk of investment, we so often think of money, yet the real investment we should be making is the investment in ourselves. If we invest time and effort into bettering and improving ourselves, growing as an individual, then we will reap more rewards than just our goals. As stated in today's quote by Brian Tracy, "the better you become, the less time it takes you to achieve your goals.” So why not engage in some personal development and mindset training today, and start bettering yourself and working towards the goals you want to achieve in life?
