Social Media

By Charelle LandersPublished 6 months ago 3 min read

We are living in a society where praying hands symbolizes prayer but word of mouth spring’s forth deceit. In today’s world it seems as if emojis are taking the place of generalized conversations and NPC’s, are taking the place of normal people. There seems to be this screen rant of undisclosed emotions going about in our everyday lives, instead of people explaining how they feel we resort to the screen to have a blast on the illusion of reality.

The illogical sense of truth has made it hard to accept it as just that, truth.

Our sociatal norms will change within the gaps of our vastly growing world of technology. With science and innovation advancing rapidly we continue to find ourselves swamped into the lives of others, without any means of truly helping them or forming a sincere commitment to change the world or their lives.

Technology has taken over the physicality of human life, and nobody seems to care. I long for seeing people read books in the park, or at the doctor’s offices, instead we are plagued in our phones without a care in the world. We are so addicted to social media that we have not learned how to be complexly happy without it. We yearn for a hint of social dopamine everyday from the time we wake up until we drift off to sleep, our phones and tablets has become our natural habitat.

Social media has seemingly started to provide everything we need from self proclaimed doctors dubbed with criminal investigators, to therapist professing the notion of narcissistic abuse and the signs to watch for. We have met chefs, models, actresses and actors even self proclaimed engineers, directors, and even beauticians, just to name a few.

Don’t get me wrong the content is wonderful and entertaining, but that’s exactly what it is created for, your entertainment. What do we do when we are no longer entertained? We all must come to the conclusion that we must suffer from a mental illness thinking that these people actually partake on some of the things that they do for followers, and say for likes.

There seems to be this agenda that nobody can be themselves in the world anymore, and social media is the blame for that. It’s very seldom that you see in the reality of our waking life many therapeutic messages from a therapist, or life coach, being displayed across your mind, or mirror on a daily basis and if that is the case, you have a lot of money to be able to afford the time of those professionals.

We are being led by the complexities of our imaginations and wanting to be like what we see instead of doing the best we can alone and for ourselves. We are stargazed into everybody wanting to be like everybody else and nobody liking their own livelihoods.

We are living in the mascara's of others and we believe that we are going to be okay if we keep socializing to a bare minimum, or simply put it a screen. It’s seems like the world is facing an identity crisis, and nobody seems to know who they have become or who they want to become anymore. We are plagued with many ideas that socialists capitalize off of within the insecurities of others. It’s seems as everything is a me too movement.

This coming year I challenge you to take a break from the screen rant and lead to live a quiet life. It is worthy of living and more worthy of enjoying and don’t let social media ruin your chances in finding your purpose. Remember you are made to be different not alike. If everybody has the same gifts and talents then we would be one person. This upcoming year is a year of greatness and it all starts with self!
