Haitham The HawkPublished 6 months ago in MotivationMistake is a sign of becoming a Master
My perspective! I am not afraid to make mistakes because I know that it's a learning setback for me. It's a temporary fall as getting compressed like a spring and learning from the mistake then bouncing back with a new stream of energy to the next level of ourselves. I want to share my life experience about learning to ride a bicycle. Riding a bicycle is one of my hobbies and every weekend I used to go riding a bicycle. I was learning to balance myself while riding it and had made the mistake of taking a sharp turn at high speed which eventually disturbed my balance and I fell. I stood again with a lesson learned from my mistake and next time I was cautious enough while taking a turn with my bicycle. I have made an approach that a mistake needs to be made once and consider it as a learning opportunity but the same mistake will not be repeated in the future again. Repeating the same mistake will be considered a failure. I believe that we should not be afraid to make mistakes instead should make more mistakes as it's a trigger point for the growth in our life journey. It highlights that you need to Analyze the gap in your action. It will make you think of the ways for the betterment of your action. Mistakes resemble a circular loop where you are required to learn from your mistake and if you try to ignore it then after following a circumference path it will land you at the same point with the mistake. The solution for moving out of the loop is to accept and rectify your mistake.

David MUTHEE CHEGEPublished 6 months ago in MotivationBright Ideas: A Guide to Sustainable Investing for Young Investors 👷 👨💼 📈
Welcome to "Bright Ideas," a show designed to illuminate your path in the world of investing, co-hosted by Rod Phil, a young content creator who is on a journey to understand investing better. Today, we are embarking on a self-led educational adventure to explore sustainable investing. We will delve into the meaning of sustainable investing, the key terminology, and how you, as a young investor, can align your investments with the issues that matter most to you. Anna White, a sustainable investing analyst from Fidelity, is here to share her wisdom and help us navigate the world of sustainable investing. To kick things off, Rod asks Anna about the first steps young investors can take when they want to invest in alignment with their values. Anna shares her own personal journey into finance and emphasizes that you don't need a specific background to engage in investing. In fact, she believes that investing empowers individuals to bring about positive change in the world. Anna encourages young investors to begin with what they know and are passionate about. By focusing on companies and issues they are familiar with, it becomes easier to make well-informed investment choices. For instance, if you're passionate about climate change, you can explore investments in alternative energy. The conversation takes an exciting turn as Anna suggests that sustainable investing doesn't have to be a solitary pursuit. Forming book clubs with friends or joining communities interested in sustainability can make the learning process interactive and social. Rod wholeheartedly agrees with this approach and is enthusiastic about embarking on this educational journey. Rod is eager to learn more about the terminology used in sustainable investing. Anna begins by explaining some fundamental concepts. A fund is a pool of money with a specific purpose. Thematic funds, for example, are designed to invest in companies with a common theme, like those led by female executives or focused on water preservation. Anna dives into the heart of sustainable investing by introducing ESG. ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. It's a framework that assesses a company's practices in these areas, along with traditional financial measures. The "E" in ESG evaluates how a company limits its environmental impact, the "S" covers social aspects such as diversity and employee treatment, and the "G" assesses governance, including board quality and management compensation. Young investors often wonder how they can find out where a company stands on the ESG spectrum. Anna explains that this information can be obtained through personal research, but not everyone has the time for that. In such cases, it's beneficial to invest with companies that do the research on your behalf. Fidelity, for example, employs research associates who evaluate companies across various industries and determine their ESG ratings. This approach considers not only a company's current practices but also its future sustainability goals. Rod is thankful for this inside look at the sustainable investing landscape, and it offers a clear path for young investors to begin their journey. The conversation shifts to a new guest, Jamie Beckle, who works with small and medium-sized businesses to enhance their social and environmental impact while also boosting profits and minimizing risks. This on-the-ground work helps companies navigate the complex world of sustainability. Rod is curious about what it takes to make these transformations, and Jamie emphasizes that breaking down the process into manageable steps is key. Companies need to identify their environmental and social concerns, much like the concept of scope one, two, and three emissions in climate change. Understanding how companies can evaluate their supply chains is essential in this process. Jamie's message to young investors is one of encouragement. She emphasizes the importance of educating oneself and asking tough questions. With their innate ability to sense what's right, young investors can lead the way in bringing about positive change in the investment world. In the pursuit of sustainable investing, "Bright Ideas" offers a valuable platform for young investors to embark on a learning journey. By investing in what they know and care about, making their research fun and social, and collaborating with experts like Anna White and Jamie Beckle, young investors can align their investments with their values and make a significant impact on the world. As Rod and his audience continue to explore the world of sustainable investing, the road ahead looks promising, educational, and deeply impactful. So, stay tuned for the next episode of "Bright Ideas," where we'll continue to shine a light on the path to enlightened investing.
