2024
I believe in the power of New Year’s resolutions. Over the years I’ve manifested material objects I’ve desired, lost the unwanted pounds I promised myself I would shed, completed degrees no one thought possible, and traveled to my dream destinations. I'm a very powerful witch with years of accomplishing superficial goals, but always too shy to identify what it is I truly want to achieve. All my life I’ve wanted to write beyond the pages of my diary and hidden Word docs and never once have I made it a resolution.

A Journey from Solitude to Splendor
Once upon a time, in a small village nestled between rolling hills and meandering streams, lived a young girl named Aisha. She was an orphan, left alone in the world with nothing but the clothes on her back and the dreams in her heart. Aisha's days were spent tending to the meager garden behind her tiny thatched hut and seeking odd jobs to sustain herself in the impoverished village.

No Resolution
Now normally, I would say bah humbug to New Year’s resolutions. Too Late? Anyway, I still stand on business in accordance with my values. This isn’t like I’m going to cycle on the Peleton more, either. I’m already doing that. I’m not going to put clothes on it or sell it to buy extra platters of baked ziti. No.

Leadership and Sacrifice
In the bustling cityscape of corporate life, Sarah found herself at the helm of a company facing dire financial straits. As the CEO, she bore the weight of a sinking ship and knew that tough decisions loomed on the horizon. The emotional toll of the impending sacrifices weighed heavily on her shoulders.Sarah, with her unwavering determination and commitment to her team, had built the company from the ground up. It was more than a business to her; it was a family. However, the financial storm clouds gathered ominously, threatening not only the livelihood of her employees but the very existence of the company she had poured her heart and soul into.Late nights became a norm for Sarah as she immersed herself in financial reports, seeking any glimmer of hope. The reality was stark - the company needed a lifeline. With options narrowing down, she faced the ultimate crossroads: massive layoffs or a high-stakes investment that could either rescue or doom the company. The weight of leadership rested heavily on Sarah's shoulders. The office, once abuzz with enthusiasm, now echoed with a silent tension. As she walked through the maze of cubicles, the eyes of her employees mirrored the uncertainty that clouded her own thoughts. The emotional connection she had fostered with her team deepened the internal struggle – the people behind the job titles were not just colleagues but friends, individuals with dreams and families to support. One evening, Sarah gathered the team in the conference room, their faces etched with anticipation. The air thickened with a palpable tension as she began to outline the harsh reality of the company's financial predicament. She spoke with honesty, her voice steady but laced with empathy. The room fell into a heavy silence as she revealed the plan – a significant downsizing to salvage the sinking ship.As each name was announced, the emotional toll on Sarah intensified. She could see the shock, disappointment, and fear in the eyes of her team members. Each layoff was not just a position eliminated but a life disrupted, a family affected. The weight of their livelihoods hung in the air, mingling with the collective uncertainty about the future. In the days that followed, Sarah navigated a terrain fraught with emotional landmines. Conversations with departing employees were filled with tears, anger, and a sense of betrayal. The office, once a lively community, felt like a ghost town. Sarah walked through the empty halls, haunted by the echoes of laughter and camaraderie that once defined the workplace. The sacrifice was not limited to the departing employees; it seeped into the morale of those who remained. The survivors grappled with survivor's guilt, mourning the loss of their colleagues and questioning their own fate. Sarah became a beacon of strength, a symbol of resilience in the face of adversity. She held town hall meetings, transparently sharing the company's journey and emphasizing the shared responsibility of building a new foundation. The emotional toll on Sarah, however, was relentless. Sleepless nights were punctuated by nightmares of the faces she had to let go. Anxiety became a constant companion as she wondered if the decisions made were truly for the greater good. The weight of leadership, the burden of responsibility, bore down on her, threatening to break the unwavering facade she presented to her team.Yet, amid the darkness, glimmers of hope emerged. The risky investment began to show signs of paying off. Clients who had doubted the company's stability now witnessed its resilience. Slowly, but steadily, the tide began to turn. Sarah's leadership, tested in the crucible of adversity, became a guiding light for her team. The sacrifices made were not in vain. As the company stabilized, Sarah redirected her focus to rebuilding the culture. New initiatives were launched to foster a sense of community and support. The emotional wounds began to heal, and a newfound spirit of determination permeated the workplace. In reflection, Sarah realized that leadership was not just about making tough decisions; it was about navigating the emotional aftermath with grace and fortitude. The scars of the past remained, but they became a testament to the resilience of the team and the transformative power of leadership in the face of adversity. The story of leadership and sacrifice became one of redemption, renewal, and the enduring strength of those who weathered the storm together. Sarah, forever changed by the experience, emerged not only as a leader who saved a company but as a beacon of inspiration for those who followed her into the uncertain seas of business.

Goals for 2024
I am wishing myself. and my writing journey "A happy new year." This year I sat down and wrote a list of yearly goals. And actually Vocal did appear in my list of Goals for this coming year. Although I did not really think of it as a resolution. It was just what I was hoping for, for myself. My expectations for myself. I tried to make them more realistic then in previous years.
