Make a Move
Complaining doesn't change your situation. Action changes your situation. Ideas are not enough to make dreams come true. The work that you put into your ideas is what makes dreams come true.

For me, being a storyteller is not quite the same as being a writer/author. Telling a story isn't the same as writing words on paper, or typing words on a typewriter or a computer. Telling a story and then having to put it on paper for the world to read, isn't mouth-to-ear around the campfire. You have to fill in the commons in all the right places, be sure your words are spelled accurately, and this and that. So many variables for nitpickers and criticism to bloat and goat (their) view. It is one of the most insane points of writing, but it is an adventure. What I find quite silly, actually, is that every Tom, Dick, Harry, Sue or Nancy has an opinion.

We all like to think that we are going to be different people as soon as the year changes. It's almost romantic, the optimism that so many of us enter the changing of the year with. "New year, new me." is seen splashed across lots of Instagram posts, and gyms see an uptick in memberships. Programs like blue apron, and daily harvest see an uptick in customers, and everyone remembers the password to their My Fitness Pal log in. In addition, a lot of us set personal goals for things other than weight loss. Things like getting out of debt, and meeting that special someone, or continuing an existing relationship, maybe even taking that relationship to the next level. Some of us strive to be more mindful about ourselves, to meditate, to do yoga, to start therapy again. There are a million things we can resolve to do. But sometimes, in our optimism, we shoot ourselves in the foot, and render ourselves incapable of even starting. This is doubly true for people with certain mental illnesses like Bipolar Disorder and variations of Attention Deficit Disorder or Borderline Personality Disorder. That initial optimism can make us set unrealistic goals, that in the cold light of the morning on New Years Day seem so daunting, we just don't even try. So here are some tips on NOT overwhelming yourself, on setting realistic goals, and how to trick your brain into working for you instead of against you.

2018 has really been a year filled with memories but most of all it has really taught me how strong I really am. The obstacles that we all have faced were necessary to prepare each one of us for the greatness that is in store for our life.

2018 is almost over and 2019 is fast approaching. Part of this year has been rough on me. I was homeless and jobless for months before I ended up slowly getting back on my feet. However, there have been some great moments from this year. Back in late July, I returned from a four month hiatus from cosplay, attended GlitchCon with my friends about a week and a half later, started a new job after Labor Day and moved in with a roommate. Finally, in early October, I worked on my first cosplay in over a year, which was The Human Spider. Next year, I'm planning on working on an Aquaman/Red Gyarados mashup that's going to be called Aquados. I might work on another cosplay, but I'm not sure yet.

It's that time of the year again; the time when people look back on the year that they've had and try to make changes for the upcoming year. 2018 has been a rollercoaster of a year, and for some reason, it also seemed like it was an excruciatingly long one. I saw tweets that literally reminded me that Black Panther came out in February and that the entire Tide Pod fiasco happened in January. In case you've forgotten, the FIFA World Cup also happened this year. Fortnite feels like it's been around for a couple of years, right? Nope; this year. No matter which way you look at it, 2018 feels like its been here forever. It definitely feels nice to finally put a lid on everything bad this year has brought and look forward to 2019, and the most common way to do this is, of course, make resolutions. Now, I've made my stance on New Year's resolutions pretty clear in an earlier article, so I'm not going to talk about that today. Instead, I'm going to give you a bit of advice on something that you can do to ensure that you get some form of closure for everything you've been through, good or bad, for 2018. Don't worry, it's not a very complicated process or anything of the sort; in fact, it's quite simple. All you need is a pen and a piece of paper.
Arvind PennathurPublished 5 years ago in MotivationWhat Does It Mean to Show up in Life?
What does it mean to "Show up for ourselves?" (raising one eyebrow in wonder). Showing up isn't just putting action behind a thought, we can all put on a uniform sort of speak and head to the office. We can create a vision board and execute like any effective leader. "Showing up" is hard work but if we are to reach the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, we have to awaken to who we are and develop the right approach when it comes to our well-being.

I just watched the latest Grinch adaptation, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Everything from the voice acting of Benedict Cumberbatch to the funny screaming goat was lovable. Honestly, I must say I enjoyed this one better than the others beforehand. The Grinch made me smile, giggle, and even (nearly) tear up. It reminded me of the importance of people like Seuss. Sixty-odd years after its original book release, it is still touching hearts, and hopefully, changing lives.

Throughout all our life, we go through different struggles which never kill us, but always make us stronger. Struggling is a missing piece of this LIFE puzzle. Nothing ever comes easy, when you are trying to build towards your dreams. Difficulties and hardship will always be your constant companions.

Nicole AddisonPublished 5 years ago in MotivationIt's Difficult, I Know
Life, to me, is how my dad explained it. It's like a horse race, but one of those ones where there are jumps every other hundred yards. My dark spin on my dad's analogy is, it IS like a horse race. You're riding through life smoothly for about 10 seconds, then you hit a rather heart-dropping hurdle. Now, if you don't fall of inevitability, you've succeeded. But every once in a while, the people riding fall off and the horse breaks its leg and the curtains go up. Generally, life is like that for everyone; we smooth sail whilst regularly jumping hurdles and overcoming those hurdles.
