Stress Awareness Month takes place on April 1st – April 3oth. Although, this time is designated for health professionals to help their patients deal with stress; it really is for everyone to work on things bothering them.

Stress Awareness Month

Since 1992, April has been recognized as Stress Awareness Month. Indeed, everyone experiences different things that could impact their health.

Of course, finding ways to manage these situations goes a long way to living a productive life.

Although each person handles things differently; it is important to use tools that help us manage a situation.

Many of us face things regularly that can be overwhelming.

For some good products to help you relax; check out my 6 Best De-Stressing Products article.

Healthy Ways to Deal with Stress

So, here are my recommendations for the best ways to cope.

In the first place, stop listening to the news. Although it is important to be informed, hearing about tragic events can be upsetting. When I was in college, I had a professor who told the class she never watched the news. Additionally, she felt that any time there was a feel-good story; it was saved for the end of the newcast.

Also, it is essential to take care of our body and mind. Visit my Top Fitness and Nutrition Trends article for some tips on eating healthier, exercising regularly, and good vitamins and protein powders.

More importantly, it is important to avoid drinking too much alcohol or taking drugs.

Hence, it is essential to unwind.

Moreover, it is important to learn the best ways to overcome issues.

Finally, speak to a professional counselor or doctor.

When you are comfortable discussing problems that you are facing, it may give you a different perspective on coping.

Mental Health

So, if you are having difficulty coping; there are many ways to get help. First, you should phone your healthcare physician. Meanwhile, if you have an emergency, phone 911. In addition, you may want to phone the Disaster Distress Helpline.

In today’s world, many things could affect you both physically and mentally.

Over the last few decades; mental health has been at the forefront. For instance, if you have things going on that impact you; stress has a way of someone losing control. These issues can manifest and lead to many problems such as:

Anger

Concentration such as memory problems

Exhaustion

Insomnia

Loss of control

Violence

Over the years, the world has seen more acts of violence and tragedies that could have been avoided if the proper help had been given. Because I was a recipient of an act of violence committed against my beautiful sister, Edie; I lost not only my sister but a best friend. Over the years, I have often wondered had her ex-husband received the help he needed; my sister would be alive today.

Meditation and Relaxation

Since I’m the type of person who has trouble unwinding; it has been suggested that I try meditation. Although I have taken a class in Yoga; I quickly learned that isn’t an activity for me. However, I have been lucky as someone who works with my Company has helped me with meditation.

So, one of the best ways to meditate is to set up a certain amount of time each day to do something that calms you down. Even if it is a few minutes; this can make a big difference.
