Meet Keicon

What’s your artist name and where are you from?

My name is Keicon. I was born in Charlottesville VA  however I grew up all over the country from Charleston SC to the Yokota Air Force base is Japan and then back to Virginia however I currently live in  Los Angeles California.

Why do you love music?

I get asked this question a lot and each time my answer changes. My love for music changes because for me music meets and speaks to me in a different way each time I listen to it. Being born and brought up in the church, my love for music started really early as a child.  Through song, music has provided me a platform to reach not just my friends and family but also people all over the world with my ideals and a message of love and a brighter tomorrow. Recording music since 2014 ive released a host of singles and EPs and ive just wrapped up my first-ever virtual Tour for my EP “Friday Night Before Church”. Im currently working on my debut album entitled “I Hear You” which is expected to drop later on in 2023. Without my love for music, I would have never been able to complete any of those projects.

What makes you different as a music artist?

As a contemporary recording artist, I strive to sing about issues that are both relevant and current while incorporating the gospel message and the good news of Jesus Christ with urban, more secular beats. I'm also aware that my raspy, soulful, traditional gospel voice has a silky undertone of Rhythm and Blues, making it relatable to my generation and unique in its own right.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? ———-

I envision myself in the next five years as a well-known figure and brand that will go global and do well on the Gospel Billboard charts. I picture myself touring the country with other well-known Gospel performers, performing at award shows, and being nominated, winning, and signed to a major label where I have complete creative control and I own my masters and publishing because ownership is everything to me!

What do you want to accomplish in life? ———-

My life goal is to be able to make music and tour full-time while inspiring a generation to live a life without fear fully confidently showing love and kindness while getting paid to spread the gospel through music. I want to create a body of work that will be known and respected among my peers and community of believers. These goals are in addition to sharing the good news of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and making it to Heaven.

What do you bring to the music world? ———-

I believe I bring a new perspective and energy to the field of gospel music, one that can be open and truthful. The gospel music industry, in my opinion, lacks openness and honesty. The phrase "I have a testimony, but I can't tell you all of it because the Devil is in the details" is used frequently in the church, but in my opinion, it's in the specifics of your witness where people may really see themselves and find true healing. When I record a song, I'm constantly considering how I can incorporate my life experiences into it so that everybody who hears it would be able to relate to it

What do you want to be remembered by? ———-

I want a variety of things to stick in people's minds. Initially, being the man who could make anyone smile and had an incredibly honest, caring, giving spirit and amazing voice. I want to be remembered for my hard work ethic and that I never stopped reaching towards my dreams. That i was a man of not only great potential but that i was ambitious and hungry!  I want some hungry young artist from the next generation to re-record at least three of my records. I want them to remember that i was a no nonsense type of guy who although I joked around a lot,  when it came to my business and craft I didn't play games.  Finally, I want to be recognized as a child of God who lived his entire life on faith.
