Things like this don't happen to me.
It was the year 2011, I was doing my regular job, which was to pick up food for the less fortunate. You see my job consists of picking up food from different vendors who would give leftover edible foods that were safe to eat. So I would clock in at around 7:30 am and began my route, not thinking that this day was going to be different. The company I work for was not just a shelter for the homeless, but It was also a drug treatment program for those who were seeking help.

We're Doing This Differently
The year 2020 ended, with a bang. Thing is that the entire 12 months was one bang after another. I myself like many others began that year with hopes and goals and dreams that any other year would have been acheivable with a bit of self-discipline.

Adventure Awaits
The trip around the sun called 2021 has begun! Believing the best for it, I resolve myself to a different type of resolution. I resolve myself to make Me a priority! Perhaps this sounds selfish or self-serving. Let Me explain. I think it is fair to say without delving into years previous, that I am inclined by nature, to be selfless. I more often than not, put the priorities of others above my own. It is my nature to see a need and try to meet it. To empathize and to actualize remedies for other’s problems. This is fine and good I know. There are however only so many hours in the day, so many days in a week and so many weeks in a year! I see in myself more and more signs of burnout. I identify this and know that it is time for a new approach! Time after all, is the most valuable gift you can give anyone including yourself! It is measurable by the clock, but fleeting. One can neither hold it, or keep it. So, it is best to use time wisely. After all, the longer that we are here, the less time we have left. Resolving to make Me a priority requires that I reflect on what makes Me feel alive, and making the choice to do more of it! Listening to my body, acknowledging my feelings, owning my emotions and making decisions with my time. The goal in doing so is to make this trip around the sun more fulfilling.

The 8 Natural Qualities of Exceptionally Cool People
Austin Powers. For some reason, the prolific 1960s spy who was unfrozen and thrust into an array of new assignments in a confusing ’90s world, is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of someone exceptionally cool — “Yeah, baby?”

The UNCOMFORTABLE Fresh Start
The UNCOMFORTABLE Fresh Start For the past decade my routine consisted of school and work, toxic relationships, love/dislike relationship with family and friends, people in general honestly. Needless to say, it wasn’t until 2020 when I decided to face the problems, I was having within myself. I started to seek spiritual help, as well as learn things on my own and connect the pieces to my puzzle. I really started getting into meditation and yoga, and more in-depth with astrology to better understand myself. As I enter the new year, 2021 that is, I look forward to doing the uncomfortable fresh start. I’ve been too accustomed to the same routine for so long, and with me rediscovering myself, now is the time to rebuild myself for the years to come. Moving forward, I want to accomplish my self-growth – mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually; connect with positive human beings, create multiple sources of income, and most importantly build a foundation that influences others in a positive perspective and see the beauty of life and all it has to offer when you learn to make self-care a priority.

2021 is about ME.
2020 was jam-packed with life events that left me drained, giving every ounce of myself to my family and having nothing left for myself. I had a baby at the very beginning of the pandemic which means that my every waking hour, and many hours in between were baby focused. Fair enough- that's part of having a child, especially in the beginning. But what also took more of me was the loss of my mother-in-law, two short weeks after our baby was born. That left my husband empty, grieving and needing my support. Covid19 shut the world down and with that came a layoff notice from my husband's job, creating even more of a void in his life. and then my beloved cat fell sick, and required a lot of attention and care to live out her last days. She passed shortly after thanksgiving and took a chunk of my heart with her. All of these events have created a situation in my life where I didn't matter. My needs were not met, because there was no one to meet them. I couldn't, and still can't, visit with family or friends who would normally be able to meet some of those needs, so for my goal of taking better care of myself in 2021, I am on my own. Though my family still needs me to be a rock, I have realized that I can't do that without also making sure I am also taken care of. When you read post and stories of moms insisting on the importance of self-care, you kind of shrug your shoulders and say "duh" as if it's obvious. But it is MUCH harder to do and practice once you're in it.

Where's The End Of The Tunnel?
How many walls do I have to hit, before it seems like I no longer have to take a detour? How many emails must I sift through, before a glorious one comes that shows that I've won a challenge, gotten a decent pay out, got a new company client, or something else that displays some form of triumph? Days just appear to be swimming by at this point, and I don't feel like building another canoe to push through any more rapids. My eyes open daily (praise the Most High) to a new morning; full of hopes and dreams, comprehension of things that must be done, and...lethargic moods. I strongly DISLIKE feeling lethargic!

Good Deeds, Tough Year
2020 started off normally for me, I would say. I made my resolutions like I usually do and went about my life like I normally did. Nothing could've warned me about what was about to come, and if someone had tried, I would've laughed in their face.

3 Simple Ways to Loving Yourself
We have all heard it: Love yourself first. Whether from an inspirational best selling author who teaches you the grounds to finding joy, or a sensational social media influencer who coaches you the steps to finding real love. It seems easy: Love yourself first and everything will fall into places. But as a compulsive learner, meaning seeker and recovered self-doubt perfectionist, I rekon, if "love" is the goal, what is the process? What are the tools?
