New Year Resolutions
New Year Resolutions have never been my thing. The older I get the more I start to see that new year resolutions are not there to make you look back at your failures. Most of the time I would set an unrealistic goal that I knew would take a longer than just a year. For example, I started working out, not consistently but I wanted to gain muscle. That was never going to happen until I started to be more consistent.

Change Is A Good Thing
I can feel it deep within my gut; there is a visceral change on the horizon that may scare a number of people but is worth it in the end. To be wise is to embrace such change and move with it, for these things have needed to happen for quite some time now. In order for proper growth within one's self and within society to occur, certain old ways of being have to be either destroyed completely or re-molded into something brand new.

My Very Individual Fresh Start
Some people forget about their fresh start as quickly as they forget about the fresh sheets they put on their bed. Because let’s face, most of us forget all about those sheets by night #2. How do you keep your New Year’s Resolutions active through the whole year? I use a list because oh my goodness, I love lists!

We're Not Really Strangers, the new Instagram Phenomenon.
I did it, I caved. I bought the Instagram phenomenon that shows up between every single one of your friend's stories. I saw two girls, a mother and a daughter, and a big family crying after playing it, so naturally I followed the Instagram account and today, it came in the mail. I tried to tell myself that I bought it for my boyfriend or my best friend for Valentine's Day, but as I sit here writing this (still in bed at 4 pm) - I'm curious and I thought it would be a new experience during quarantine. Maybe it'll make me feel better about being couped up, eh? So, if you're curious about it - I'm gonna give you a little sneak peek, in case, you too, cave and buy it. This is the exact wording from the box, some card examples, some questions that you may have (because I had them), and of course, I'll give my feedback after I make my boyfriend play a round with me:

Who Am I?
Welcome to my new journey. The above picture is where I want my office to be very soon. How can one establish that you may think? Well I may not be an expert in any one thing but I do know a little something about a lot of things. You see when you work 50+ hours a week for almost 30 years you become to realize just how much of your life has been wasted. I have gained a lot of knowledge over the years being in the business management and finance fields but the one thing I never thought about, not even for a second, was how important mental health is too. Now that I am staring down the barrel of my 46th birthday I have to make a change. This is my journey and I feel others need to hear it too.

Anew Me
It was about 10pm EST when I began to journal, falling asleep unintentionally. "This bed is so comfortable!" I thought to myself and smiled. Wait a minute. "If I'm thinking to myself that means I'm up right?" My eyes squeezed shut as I stretched my arms above my head and my straightened my legs underneath the warm blanket. Groaning, I rubbed my legs against the soft grey fleece. My knee hit the connector part leading down to a wire that was plugged into an extension cord. Electric blankets are the best I thought to myself as I slowly sat up in bed. "What the-" I said, looking around the room confused. I see my dresser and bed and that's my tapestry on the wall, but this room looks slightly different.

Light in the Dark
2020 was a very rough year for me personally. I am sure I wasn’t the only one who suffered due to covid and the restrictions, but mentally, the past year made me question so much. 2020 was the year that my ex-boyfriend and I had broken up (after being together for 3 years), I had been laid off of work after just getting a permanent position, and I had gotten into a car accident a week after my birthday. It was really tough each time trying to get back up and continuing on my life, but I knew I had to. (Even though everyday I would question if it was necessary)I struggled a lot mentally, wondering if I was good enough for anything. I couldn’t keep a man, a job or even a car for that matter. Financially, the last two hit me hard and making ends meet was extremely difficult. I honestly thought about giving up. It wasn’t until I felt a positive impact from someone that I was able to keep persevering on.

Survival
This is not a novel or a story or anything remotely what people expect. After 4 years of watching the world pretend it was not burning, sometimes literally, the idea that we can move forward and grow and make the world a better place is delicious and tantalizing, calling to all of us to move forward and upward together. We can go high now, with no one actively encouraging people to go low and listen to their baser instincts.

Fear of Knowing Who You Are
Part 1 While watching The Great Dictator--featuring Charlie Chaplin as Adenoid Hynkel (Adolf Hitler)—I am reminded by a memory of the past. North Plainfield, New Jersey is where I grew up and, as any child, I imagined it as a world of surrealism with strange characters. If you've ever seen the Nickelodeon cartoon called "Hey Arnold", then you can imagine how closely knit and eccentric the community was. Well, that was the gist of my surroundings growing up with neighbors of special interests. Did we have a crazy-cat lady to go along with that? Yes and, to this day, every time I see a cat, I think back to the swarm of cats that lived in my neighbors home. Thanks crazy-cat lady for ruining my view on cats. Anyways, going back to The Great Dictator, there was another strange character that taught me a lesson about self-acceptance.

Through Cracks in the Sidewalk
October is not a friendly month to be outside. Not, at least, in the city. Ask anyone, and they’ll tell you that sitting on cold concrete is not a pleasant thing to do, but any normal person doesn’t do it for all that long: to really understand the cold you have to be sitting behind a little sign that sums your existence up with pleading black sharpie on the inside of a liquor box. You needed your spine up against the unyielding, spiritless rock, and your tailbone parked uncomfortably on a fold in your jeans, trying to find some variety in the numbness that a thin nylon sleeping bag won’t provide. The real cold doesn’t kick in until you don’t have an option to get away from it, and it takes on that broody, seductive whisper telling you that it’s here for you now, that it will hold you while you fall asleep if you let it, and if you wake up, it will be there waiting.

My Little Happiness
It has been over one year since I left that eerie house. If I was to describe myself as a person from that year, it would be something like this: "A feeble simple minded peacemaker" Though I still think I have those qualities in me now; stronger that is. The me from a year ago is the me now, but more complex.

The Power of Positive Thinking
There are several advantages of positive thinking. But before we can get there we need to identify the several side effects of negative thinking. Negative thinking can cause several physical symptoms and increase your risk of diseases and a shortened lifespan.
