The Insight of Charlotte Brontë
I recently finished reading Jane Eyre for the first time (get it for free here). A handful of sentences that Charlotte Brontë threw in there made me think, ooh I like that, and so I thought I'd share them with you.
Sam IsaacsonPublished 6 years ago in Motivation3 Ways to Instantly Lift Your Mood
We all have our off days if you will, the days when you wake up in the morning and your hair is lopsided, you have a nice dry bit of dribble stuck in your beard, you head downstairs, flick the kettle on and spot that the coffee jar is empty! Any day like that is surely going to set you off on the wrong foot, whilst almost certainly putting you in a foul mood. When this happens it can wreak havoc on the rest of your day, affecting your attitude whilst driving on the way to work, to your attitude in the workplace, to how you straight up deal with other human beings. That is why it is essential to ensure that you do the below three ways to lift your mood before leaving the house.

Let me just start by saying that anything that pushes you beyond your personal comfort zone IS ADVENTUROUS! So that's the good news! What's adventurous to you might not be to someone else and that's FINE.
TamaraPublished 6 years ago in Motivation2 Common Ways People Get Stuck
Let me start this off by saying I am a college student. I'm 19 years old, and pursuing a degree in history as well as studying archaeology. I've got a lot on my plate most days, and on top of all the reading, writing, and research, I struggle with depression and anxiety. I cannot tell you how many times I've woken up at 7:30 A.M. only to turn my alarm off, tell myself, "I just can't do this today..." and go right back to sleep. I cannot tell you how many times I've opened a book on a subject that I am fascinated by, read one page, and put it down, only to end up staring at the ceiling for twenty minutes wondering why I just couldn't understand the words in front of me. I am stuck.

The year is 2018 and our world is becoming more driven by computerisation, automation, and connectivity every day. This means that consumers, employees, and disruptors who were once at the mercy of the autocracy of big business now have access to information at the snap of a finger and are well enough informed to have completely flipped the script.
Josh FirminPublished 6 years ago in MotivationTime Is Money, and You Don't Know the Value of Time
People will speak of the value of money. Your parents will tell you, "You still don't know the value of money. If you get a job, you will understand." But people don't tell you the value of time. Yet every day, many people struggle with keeping time, being productive, and reaching their aspirations and life goals. Years go by and they still struggle and find themselves wondering where they are going wrong. The persistent ones try harder; they feel motivated and may start doing something about their lack of focus and momentum, but again, can find themselves lost in the sauce (lost in the world) and before you know it, their mind and the world is taking them in many directions all at once leaving them...directionless.
mona LisaPublished 6 years ago in MotivationA Reason to Live
Life is hard, and I'm sure everyone has asked themselves at some point something along the lines of: "Why am I doing this?" or: "Is my life really joyful and fulfilling?" There is no one answer to these types of questions, but I have a philosophy. My idea isn't an all-encompassing solution, and I don't pretend to live perfectly—no sir! However, this idea sure has opened my eyes to the value of the time that I am so lucky to have on this planet.
Zachary BoulangerPublished 6 years ago in MotivationI've Always Been the Worst
Sometimes I think, will I ever be successful? It's hard. I can only strive to be the best I can be, but I realize those in front of me will never back down. They started before me with higher motivation than I will always have.
Benjamin DrewPublished 6 years ago in MotivationOdds Are
According to the statistics, I am 1200 percent more likely to commit suicide than the average person. According to the statistics, my life span should be about 20 years less than average. Did I know this when planning out life, or did I end up accepting a future of failure? Heck no. I would not consider myself extremely successful, but I do understand that I am far better off than my statistical average. If I knew what the odds of failure were before beginning the pursuit of life, I would have would have assumed a life of failure. I am GLAD that I did not understand what my ACE score was before applying for college. My heart breaks for the kids who grow up with Adverse Childhood Experiences and have accepted their lot in life. Renner's High was created to crush the notion that statistics can dictate someones life.

Anyone who knows me will know that I have been studying music now for over three years. Music, music, music has been my life – there is no getting away and although I am grateful for that, I also wonder what life would be like if I had done something else. I always enjoyed philosophy and history and surprisingly, I had a knack for science, but music was what I was drawn to. A way of self-expression, communication and an outlet for emotion or thought which admittedly, I am not very good at otherwise. Because of this, I chose to take music as a GCSE and specialise in three different music courses at college. Now, I take commercial music at university and would never look back.
Maddie ChristyPublished 6 years ago in MotivationEmpaths: What No One Talks About
OK, so bear with me for just a minute, and I'll get your attention. I think we're all, to some extent, versed on the whole business of personality types, intro & extroverts and the increasingly more common media topic of ‘Are YOU an empath?’ offering us 10 more or less vague signs that we maybe, or maybe not, tune into other people's emotions.
