Instant Dismissal

“Sometimes, you just can’t get what you want, but it doesn’t mean that you can never have it. Everything takes place at the right time.” - Unknown

I personally don't like hearing people talk about one of their goals and wishes in life being to live life wealthy, just so they can buy all the luxuries that money can bring, and live the high life. It becomes dangerous territory really, because when we start focusing on all the luxuries and assets that money can buy us, our mind becomes money centric, which can often take the focus away from seeking to help others in life, from serving others in life, and from designing a life blessed with happiness and success. Our purpose in life becomes completely diminished basically. When we start chasing money, our behavior instantly becomes based on greed and selfishness, and we often find that life doesn't reward such behavior. The moment our focus shifts to chasing money, we find that's all we spend our life doing, chasing money. Even if we start creating wealth for ourselves, we are never satisfied, and we are always wanting more, more, and more. We start spending money on things we want, rather than what we need, or to even help those in need. You often hear of people who have inherited a large sum of money, or perhaps who have won a large amount of money on the lottery, that within a few years, they found a way to burn through it all. Their focus became all about living it up, and buying all these non-essential luxuries for themselves, that they completely lost sight of the need for investment, financial wisdom, and generosity. My late mother was a classic example of this. She inherited over 1.5 million dollars from Dad's estate, following his passing back in 2007, yet by the time she passed away herself in mid 2019, her bank accounts were completely empty. To this day, I'm still at a loss as to where she spent all that money, as there are no assets to indicate where those funds were used. I think the issue with so many people is that they believe money and wealth will provide them with happiness, yet history will show that those who have had gained significant wealth, rarely were ever satisfied and happy. Significant wealth and fame couldn't didn't exactly prevent many well known celebrities from taking their own lives. What we should be focusing on in life is working our passion, seeking out our true purpose, generating success, designing a life blessed with happiness and satisfaction, and be helping, supporting, and encouraging others. It's selflessness and hard work that leads to success, and that success will generate the dollars for us anyway.

Okay, so I'm going to cut us some slack here. We are human after all, and it's only natural to be wishing that we lived in a mansion, rather than a pokey old run down house. It's only natural to be wishing that we had a brand new car, rather than an old rust bucket from the 1980's. It's only natural to be wishing for more international travel, to explore new and exciting destinations, rather than be restricted to the odd low budget interstate holiday every few years. There are many enhancements and improvements that we wish for in our life, but there is a simple rule in life that so many of us fail in. We are too focused on all that we don't have, that we forget to be genuinely grateful about what we already do have. If we can't be genuinely happy with what we already have, then we will never be satisfied with something better, because then we will want something better again, and again. You only just need to look at the behavior of so many people when there's a new phone on the market, or something new and improved. There's like a line up a mile long outside the store on the day it's released, because people just have to have it, when the truth is, they don't even need it. They want to look good, and be the envy of others. There's nothing wrong with creating wealth in life, the issue is if we are driven and obsessed by it. What I do find interesting is the number of us who wish we owned a mansion, who wish we owned a brand new car, who wish we were wealthy, and who wish we could travel internationally on holiday more often, but then automatically dismiss that any of these such blessings could ever be reality for them. When walking past some lovely mansion overlooking the water, so many of us would say something to the effect of "I wish I could buy that house", or "I could only dream of owning a house like that". Or perhaps when walking past our dream car in the street, or in a showroom, it's that same sort of response of "I wish I could buy that car", or "I could only dream of owning a car like that". It's like we instantly dismiss any chance that these such rewards and blessings could ever be a possibility for us. It's a simple resignation to the fact we are just not blessed in life, we are not lucky, we are not at all likely of ever achieving anything so nice. The question is though, why do we think like that?

There's more than just the feelings of desire and want in the phrases "I wish I had" or "I could only dream of having". Behind these words also comes a statement of dismissal. By wishing and dreaming for something, we are basically confirming to ourselves that we are never likely to ever get it. Without even knowing it, we are kissing the opportunity and likelihood of obtaining such rewards away, because we don't think that achieving them is a possibility for us. It's funny how so many of us underestimate how powerful our mind really is. When used affectively and positively, it can deliver us a plethora of amazing blessings and rewards, but unfortunately, we use it all too often to our detriment instead, because we always focus on the negatives. Our mind contributes to our behavior, attitude, and decision making after all. If we are stating something that we want, with the genuine belief that it's improbable and unlikely we will ever achieve it, then of course we are not going to achieve it. Our mind is fixed into thinking that it's not possible. Therefore, we need to change both our thinking and our language. With the examples above, we are basically forward thinking, as such. We are looking into our future and believing that the likelihood of buying that mansion, or that car, is next to nothing. Visualization is such a powerful action for the mind. What's visualization, you may ask? Visualization is defined as "the formation of a mental image of something". Strangely enough, with the right behavior, the right attitude, and the right work ethic, we can often transform our mental images into reality. It's a mental exercise practiced by many successful people across the globe. Creating this mental image of living in that mansion, and owning that mansion, our mind starts to all of a sudden view it as possibility. Perhaps it's about setting the scene of being there at the auction, or the scene where we have the key to the front door and unlick it for the first time, or maybe it's the first time we stand out on that balcony to overlook the water, whatever scene we choose to visualize, then we need to program it in our head. We need to visualize this same image in our head, day after day, believing it into reality basically. Now this doesn't mean that we will magically buy that mansion or new car, we still need to do the physical work to create success in life, but our belief system changes. We transition from believing something to be unlikely, to being likely.

Our language is no different. When we are making statements such as "I wish I owned that mansion" or "I dream of buying that new car", then we are basically telling ourselves that it's unlikely. When we change our language to something like "my goal is to own that mansion", or "I will buy that new car", then the perception about the future changes. It's all about belief and positive thinking. Because owning a mansion, or owning a brand new flashy car, has never been normality for us, we don't see it as becoming normality for us either. We need to make that normality! We need to adjust our mindset to believing that it is indeed possible for us, and that we are worthy of such blessings. If we continue to believe that the current life we have is normality, the one in which we are unhappy and miserable, then it will continue to be. We need to visualize our goals into reality. We cannot achieve success, or the life we desire, if we first don't have the belief and a positive attitude. So rather than seeing something you desire in your life, and instantly dismissing the possibility of you ever achieving it, owning it, or obtaining it, then change your mindset! You can manifest the life you desire if you are prepared to believe in yourself, work hard, and remain positive!
