When things aren't going your way, it may be frustrating to be advised to "remain positive."

Let's face it, these are difficult times, maybe much more so than in the past.

And glass-half-full knowledge might seem impractical when the issue is more difficult.

Negative thoughts might make it difficult to find the drive to concentrate on the good aspects of things.

Every day, we learn about something new or foreboding that changes our outlook and makes our future seem unclear.

Work from home or go back to the office?

We're not sure.

We have so many unanswered questions that our lives have become a maze of conundrums.

As a result, it's normal to feel a bit less positive as time goes on.

However, there are several methods we may use to maintain our strength, remain optimistic, and meet difficult situations head-on.

And in this article, we'll discuss how.

1. Become more appreciative of your blessings

Practicing daily thankfulness is one way to promote happiness in your life.

Despite the abundance of good things that happen every day, we tend to get caught up in the inconveniences of life.

As a result, we quickly forget that we might actually have a things working in our favor.

We’re wired to focus on the terrifying, and so we lose track of the terrific.

You will need to program your mind towards the positive to break this habit. Thankfully, thankfulness is the greatest method to achieve this.

Realize that, the mind is always being programmed. Whether we’d like to believe it or not.

By taking the initiative to program it yourself, you are reclaiming your power. Going beyond the barriers of common beliefs.

Counting your blessings and being thankful three to five times a day will help you see the beauty and pleasure in your life.

Having an inspiring chat with a friend. An unexpected gesture of compassion, or a fortunate experience you've taken for granted.

The way we see the world is profoundly altered when we become acutely aware of and grateful for the little joys in life.

2. Pay attention to the present moment

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to mindfulness.

You don't need to sit motionlessly and have a blank mind to practice mindfulness, and you don't need to spend a lot of time doing it either.

Instead, strive to include moments of awareness into your daily routine.

Having awareness can be tricky at times because we are often unaware when we lack it.

Still, just like any skill, we can strengthen this mental muscle with conscious exercise.

Instead of thinking that the only way to be mindful is to sit for an hour in a candlelit room, try to incorporate mindfulness into your daily routine in little bursts.

Find little pockets for you to ponder during the day. Be unafraid to ask questions and observe your surroundings.

An investment in this skill will surely pay dividends. However it tends to favor the diligent, so be deliberate with your practice.

3. Every day, take time for self-care

Anything you do to maintain your physical, mental and spiritual well-being is considered self-care.

Engaging in a self-care regimen may help you remain happy and optimistic when things are rough.

It might range from taking a morning stroll, to reading your favorite book, or to simply having some tea.

Stress-relieving and joy-inducing exercises like these are simple but effective.

Remember, what you focus on the longest grows the strongest in your life.

When you're in a good mood, you're more inclined to focus on the positive side of life and less on the bad.

4. Put learning first

Asking yourself, "What can I learn from this event or experience?" is another way to change from negativity to positivity.

You may have been the victim of a betrayal, a virus, or the death of a loved one that has caused a direct disruption in your professional or personal life.

Then, what do you do?

You have the choice to give up and surrender to your situation. But you also have the power to choose to get stronger and more self-reliant.

This can lead you to learning how to utilize what you have in new ways. As well as how to assess people more properly.

In any scenario, there is always a lesson to be learned.

But only if you're ready to look for it.

5. Be aware of the things that are out of your control

“Worrying is like paying a debt you don't owe.” ~Mark Twain

There will be times in life when no matter how hard you try, nothing goes according to plan.

Because these events are out of your control, it's easy to feel upset.

You may, however, harm your mental health by constantly thinking about it.

If you think about it too much, you could feel stressed and nervous.

As a result, accepting what you can and cannot manage is essential for your mental well-being.

Make use of the resources at your disposal. Overthinking is usually bad idea. It throws out energy that is like a boomerang.

Make adjustments in different areas of your life, and strive to have an optimistic attitude even when things don't go your way.

6. Let yourself off the hook a bit

You are a human being and you make errors, so don't forget that.

If you miss your goal now and again, don't beat yourself up over it.

It's never too late to learn from your mistakes and become a better person.

Always remember, progress takes precedence over perfection.

To progress, it helps to shift your perspective on failure.

It helped me find the needle in the haystack on some of my toughest days.

This shift in perspective might help you maintain a prosperous attitude.

And, as we all know, your attitude determines your altitude.

Much love.
