Tips For Becoming a More Confident Person

Confidence is one of the most important traits that a person can have. It will shape your life in incredible ways, giving you advantages in all aspects of life. The more confidence you have, the easier it becomes to reach goals, the less afraid you are to meet new people or try new things - basically, if you want something and you have confidence, there's very little in life that can stop you from obtaining it.

By learning how to become more confident, not only will you gain a positive outlook on life and help yourself reach the goals you set out for yourself, but you'll also help others around you grow - both personally and professionally.

Well, what causes people to be confident or not confident? Is it something that is inside us that we can't control? There are many factors that come into play if you want to become more confident, but the two main things I've found are: how you perceive yourself and how you do things in life. In this post, I'll explain these two factors to you and how they will affect your life.

Before we start this post, let's first go over a few definitions:

What is confidence? - The belief in yourself and your abilities to do something or succeed at something.

What is the difference between confidence and arrogance? - Confidence means knowing you can succeed and having the skills to back it up. Arrogance means thinking you're better than others without any reason or justification for doing so.

1) Your Belief of Yourself/Your Perceptions

As explained before, confidence is knowing that you have the ability to do something and actually believing that you can do it. How do you develop that belief in yourself though? Well, everyone will perceive themselves differently. There are many parts of yourself that make up who you are - your personality, looks, strength, weaknesses etc. We all have different views on these things and how they affect us. For instance, some people might think they are ugly, while others might think they are beautiful. Some people may think their personality is terrible, whereas other's believe it to be great. It all comes down to how you perceive yourself - what do you think about yourself? What perception of yourself do you have? How does that affect your confidence? If you don't like something about yourself, try changing it. If you think your personality is terrible, try to become a happier person - smile more, etc.

2) How You Do Things In Life

This has to do with how you live your life as a whole. For instance, say you're not confident in social situations and meeting new people makes you extremely nervous because you're afraid of rejection. If this happens, how do you normally approach social situations? Do you take the safe route and never try it? If so, your lack of confidence will grow because there's a period of time where you didn't even try to make yourself better. How about if you actually went up to a stranger and introduced your-self? You tried it, it didn't work out, you got rejected. The difference between these two scenarios is that one you just stuck to your normal routine and made no effort to change it while the other, even though you met failure, at least you tried - at least there was some progress.

Confidence isn't a trait you automatically have. It takes time, patience and effort to get there.
