How Does Manifestation Work?

It is a lifestyle, not a hobby.

If you heard about manifestation, chances are you have either watched the documentary “The Secret” or read the book. If not, then someone told you about it—either way. In the documentary, the commentator talks about the power of thinking. All you have to do is start thinking positive things into your life, and bam, there it is. The documentary focuses on changing a negative mindset into a positive one, which is excellent. But for successful manifestation to take place, there is a lot more involved. Manifestation is not a hobby or even a habit, though if anything, habit would be closest. Manifestation is a lifestyle. It takes a significant change in life habits and the way your brain has been programmed by society. Our subconscious drives 90% of our actions. So what you say might influence specific outcomes, but it does not create the reality you want. What is rooted in your Reticular Activation System (RAS) is precisely what you will attract.

How may you ask? The RAS is, I will use fifth grade English here, a filtration system that lives in your brain stem. This network of neurons communicates certain behaviors to the hypothalamus. Precisely what you are telling it to discard or pay more attention to. If you have self-confidence issues and are used to thinking that you are ugly, the RAS will find material throughout your day to support this theory. Since you have been thinking about it and it is subconsciously rooted, the RAS takes that information as necessary and will continue to feed your consciousness of continuing the cycle. In the same sense, if you have something that you enjoy, the RAS will search for connections to whatever is of significance to you.

Understanding how the neurological science of our brain works in regards to manifestation is essential. Now that you understand why changing the way you think is so important. It is not enough to think about it, though. You have to know it. Let’s say you don’t like your job because you are tired of getting up early and spending all day making someone else rich. You cannot just walk out the door without consequences. Depending on how long you were at your job, that is how long you are subconsciously rooted in the way you have been making money. Chances are you were raised with the mindset of “money doesn’t grow on trees,” “You have to work hard to make good money.” In that case, you were trained to obey the system, and therefore, your reticular activation system will continue to feed your subconscious with ways to hustle for you to make money. Please understand that I am NOT indicating that we shouldn’t work. Though some manifestors don’t. I am trying to say that if you want to quit your job and do what you are passionate about, you can manifest that into reality. BUT, it takes a lot of practice to get to that point. Please do not quit your job right now.

Let’s start with a small item, shall we? I look forward to sharing how to get started with manifestation in my next article.
