In life, you need to take good care of yourself. You cannot always be dependent on others. In today's world, mental health is an important issue, it's hard to always be in a good mental state. It all starts with you.

1. Self-care.

We have no idea, how important it is to take good care of yourself. Not just mentally but also physically. Exercise daily! It doesn't just help build or shape your body but also it keeps you mentally healthy. Start taking care of your skin. Just keep yourself healthy. It doesn't need much effort, but taking care of yourself daily can have drastic effects on every aspect of your life.

I struggled a lot myself. I struggled in maintaining a routine for exercise or meditation. I would advise you to start a workout as soon as you wake up. It would help charge you up and create proper blood flow in your body. As exercise is the Harding part of the day for me, I tend to do it first.

"Self-discipline is self-caring."- M. Scott Peck

2. Self-Talk.

Now, this is something I hesitated to write. But Self-Talk is really important. Many say that 'always being in your head is not good.' I agree, but it's only true if you are ALWAYS in your head.

Self- Talk can have many benefits. It helps you clarify your thoughts, gives you a clear vision for life, and also helps you recognize your strengths and weaknesses. Self-talk can help you to know what you believe in and what you don't. It improves your self-confidence.

"Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love."- Brené Brown

I encourage you to have more positive self-talk. Although it's impossible to always have a positive mindset, but at least we can try. Don't think you will be able to master positive self-talk in 1 month, a year or so, it needs constant practice. You need to have patience.

It is so important to take time for yourself and find clarity. The most important relationship is the one you have with yourself. -Diane Von Furstenberg.

3. Talking criticism.

Criticism is always hard to take. We mostly take criticism in a negative way. It's human nature and we cannot change it. It's on us how we take it. I always took criticism personally. Even if it was something too small. And that resulted in me having low self-esteem. We should always keep in mind criticism helps you improve your work. It helps you grow. The biggest lesson I learned in my teens was that criticism gives you a new perspective.

Remember: when people tell you something's wrong or doesn't work for them, they are almost always right. When they tell you exactly what they think is wrong and how to fix it, they are almost always wrong." - Neil Gaiman.

4. Rewarding yourself.

After all your efforts and work, it always feels good to reward yourself with something you like. Whenever I feel like I've done a great job, I reward myself with something delicious. ( mostly ice creams.) These small treats can be motivating. Scientifically, Rewarding yourself creates happy and positive emotions. Rewarding yourself means seeing good in you. If you can find good things about yourself then you can find good things about others too. Just make sure you don't get too amused in this reward thing and you will be all good.

"I found in my research that the biggest reason people aren't more self-compassionate is that they are afraid they'll become self-indulgent. They believe self-criticism is what keeps them in line. Most people have gotten it wrong because our culture says being hard on yourself is the way to be." -Kristen Neff.
