As 2020 comes to an end I know that I am not the only one that is grateful that is over. No matter where you live or what has happened in your life I'm sure that everyone just wants the year to be over. And with a new year comes a renewed energy and hope for life that life can be something more, something great. And I think that this year it's at a different level. This year has brought a new perspective on life and made me to evaluate what is important and the person that I want to become. At the end of every year I make new goals for the year to come. It's a great time to think about what you want to accomplish and the person that you want to be. This year I feel like that is even more important than before. But for many people making goals is not always that easy. So here are some ways to make some goals and make sure that you stick to them.

Make sure that you are goals for specific and attainable. It has to be something that you are able to actually do and know when it is accomplished. Let's say you want to be a better cook. That is not something that you can know if you accomplished it or not. You can make a goal to do a cooking class or to cook every recipe from a specific cookbook. Make both long term and short term goals. Either make a long list with goals that take both a long time or a short time to accomplish. Or you can make a few list. A 3 month, 6 month and 12 month list. Making goals that are both hard and easy to accomplish will help you actually stick to it. When you can accomplish the smaller goals then that will help you to actually try to accomplish your larger goals.

If you are struggling to figure out your goals, here are some things that will help. Think about your dream life, the life you really want to have. What does it look like, what do you fill your days with, who is around you. What brings you joy? On your perfect day are you at home with your kids? Then make a list of jobs that you can do from home so that you can be home with them. Now a days there are a lot of jobs you can do from home. Or is it running your own business? If so what are your strengths and skills, what do you think that you can bring to the world? We all have our own strengths and skills. It's up to us to make sure that you are using them the best way that we can. Look at the past year, what are the areas that you could have done better with? Make that your goal for the next year. We need to make sure that we are learning from all our experiences, both good and bad.

Just making your goals is not going to help you to accomplish them. Make sure that you are checking in to ensure you are working towards accomplishing your goals. Perhaps check in once a month to make sure that you are working towards your goals so that you don't go through another year being in a place that you don't want to be in. If something is holding you back from going after something then let it go. The only person that is holding you back should be you. Don't let fear stop you from going after your dreams. If you are worried about what people are going to say about it then let it go and forget it. Everyone that went after a dream got laughed at one point in time or another. I refuse to let another year go by just working another job, just going through the motions of life. I have already started working towards being a professional writer and a couch. I want to help people, to reach out and touch someone. And I will make it happen, make sure that is your attitude and that you actually do it this time.
