When someone says, “Hey, can I take 5 minutes of your time.” Most people stray away. But what if those 5 minutes add value to your life? You see, 5 minutes can be spent eating a bag of chips, sitting on a toilet, or reading a tweet that’ll only satisfy you for a short amount of time. If you put a timeframe on something, you start thinking about how much time it’s going to waste. If you start thinking from an opportunistic standpoint, you would tell yourself, “Okay, I’ll give this a shot, try me.” It gives you doors that could possibly open interests that you might have never thought about before.

You see, most people are stuck thinking “this person is the same as the last," or, "they're all after the same thing”. But every person has something different to teach. Each person is from different walks of life. To shut down every person you come into contact with that says something similar to what you’ve heard before only plateaus your path.

You can also compare it to yourself. Let's say you had something important to share, and you asked someone to hear you out, wouldn’t you want that person to listen?

Elevating your mindset starts with opening yourself to others, whether it be something you’re not interested in or something that you've always been curious about but was always shy to admit. I’m not here to say, “try something you’ve never done before”. I’m here to say that you shouldn't shut down things you think you already know.

Now, how do you know it's something you don't already know? Someone could share a life lesson they’ve had, someone could be shutting down their business, there could be more or less to a story. What you can always take from each experience is the "WHY". Out of everything you take in ask yourself, “why did that happen?”. Whether it be good or bad. Let’s say someone shut down their business because their relationship went south — now ask why did that happen — now you could tell yourself that if you mix business with personal problems then you’re not going to get anywhere. Here’s a positive example, a business started booming and this person was the most introverted person you’ve ever known — ask yourself why did that happen — think about how much growth they’ve had to go through to get to where they are and think about their Why -- their why is what kept them driven; now apply that to your life. It gives you an insight about what you can potentially change about yourself and add value to yourself.

Let me give you something to think about. Think about what you often say to yourself or about yourself. Do you usually tell others, “I can’t do it right now, I’m broke. — Nah, they’re better than me anyways”? You're trying to dodge and avoid things that you feel might not be fun, be too much or might not work out for you. Try saying "Yes" at least once a day to something that might challenge you — whether it be doing the laundry, accepting a challenge on Instagram or talking to a friend. I promise that constant interaction will bring value to your life.

Now that you’ve made it this far, you’ve given about 5 minutes or less of your time — you weren’t thinking about that, were you? Was it informative or was it a waste? It depends on how you take it. Now, how do you want to take it? Would you want a positive change in your life or go on about your day as if you didn't read this? If you ask me why I wrote this, it's because I want to add value to you. If you want to know my Why -- message me, call me -- let's elevate your mindset, it all starts with openness.
