Create Your Reality by Believing

"Your thoughts are your reality"

When we believe from our heart is when our dreams come to fruition. Our positive thoughts create the reality we have desired. When we think of our dreams as attainable, they are.

Often times our brain has a negative barometer telling us that our dream is unattainable, or we aren’t worth it. Surprisingly, the average person has 70% negative self talk in their heads. That means the average person only has 30% positive affirmations. In this case it isn’t surprising many are working toward a goal, although never able to obtain their full potential.

This article is about retraining your brain for positivity. Life is a learning lesson, and when I first heard about the negative talk being such a high percentage. I was shocked. Then the yoga instructor Dharma in Long Beach, CA., said” Would you talk to your friend the way you talk to yourself. If you did you probably wouldn’t have any friends.” This was shockingly accurate to me.

After this yoga session, my life was changed. I started becoming aware of the negativity that was going on in my head. I then decided I needed to work on it. To simply turn it into positive a didn't work. It helped me be aware, of where my thoughts should be, although the real work had to be done with the underlying condition of why the negative thought was coming up.

Some common reasons the negativity comes up in our thoughts is one the brain is meant to scan for danger. This means we are conditioned to fear-the foundation to why the negative thoughts come up. Within the fear there are a few subsets of fear which are: lack of self-worth and value. I believe these are the two main culprits due to our upbringing. We were conditioned not to trust ourselves. Our parents told us what was right and how we should be. Therefore, to be loved, we acted in that manner. With this, we gave our self-worth away to another. Low and behold, abandoning ourself. With this process comes self-doubt and lack of value. This is where our negative self-talk comes from.

Stepping into our adult role of who we are outside of our cohort is a courageous and challenging. We have to choose being ourselves and succumb to the possible rejection from the ones we hold so dearly. When we start working on this, we start to see who we indeed are and our self-worth increases. The more we allow people to see the actual being we are the more we see our value.

Once our value and self-worth are sound the negative self-talk abolishes creating a life of happiness and freedom from the outside world. Then our dreams can become reality.

The steps to create this new life are as follows: Become aware of when the negative talk shows up. It takes mindfulness. Mindfulness is defined by Marcel De Dios as “the cultivation of a nonjudgmental awareness, curiosity, openness, and acceptance of internal and external experiences, with the intended goal of eliciting greater reflection and acceptance, especially with regard to negative affect.” You see mindfulness allows us to see the negativity in us to transform it into positive.

I hate to say it, but a lot of the times it is with family. The joke is if you think your enlightened go spend a week with your family.

Step 2 figure out the fear and where it comes from and evaluate if it is you or conditioning from your cohort.

Step 3 work on your self-worth and value by being who you truly are in every situation and not worry about judgement from others.

A delightful and beneficial way to work through this process is meditation. I believe the best way to start mediation is in silence. This really allows you to see where your thoughts are.

A good way to start is to perform 5 minutes in the morning and night. Then add time daily. Typically, 1 hour total in a day is sufficient to being more aware and giving your mind and body rest. It sounds like a lot, and I know not everyone can dedicate this amount of time. I promise you your day will flow smoother, and you will waste less time due to having a clearer more positive mind creating the reality of your dreams.
