It reminds us that beauty is all around us, yet we do not pay attention rather visually or sound. To hear the beauty is through silence. Yet, if we don't have silence, we can't hear the beauty around us. The noise that we hear in our day to day lives drowns out the beauty around us. In my opinion, this may not be true for all people, but the majority of us live to survive, not living to live. We can not hear beauty, the call of life, or the call of love. As humans, we do not have the time to listen to this during our daily lives in tunnel vision. The easiest thing to hear is all the negative, what you could have done differently, focusing more on our past mistakes or life lessons versus focusing on the present and making our future moves worth something to be proud about.

How do you quiet the noise around you? Mindfulness.

This spoke to me very well; an anxious person about the future and fearful is trapped in their own mind. This is all a prison and prevention to growing as an individual. Learning to quiet the mind with the overthinking, the feeling of not having control over what happens in your life, will not do anything but keep you in a continuous circle of hurt and pain. There will never be growth as a person with these burdens holding you back from growth.

How to use mindfulness?

In the book, it references using a bell. However, you can find a quiet place to relax and breathe in and breathe out. Inhaling all those burdens holding you back and exhaling those burdens from your mind and spirit. Pay attention to your breath is focusing on nothing else, making those overthinking thoughts quiet as you focus on your breathing. As a beginner, my advice would start off slow and daily make it a routine. Starting off with two to five minutes. Focusing on your breath focuses on the moment and being in the reality of where you are focusing on. Using affirmations during your meditation to refocus your thoughts is always okay. Make sure it is a positive affirmation that will get you back on focus. Reminding yourself, you are free from anything that does not bring you positive energy.

Noble Silence

This one is explicitly one that I am open to trying. If you are doing anything else, you are doing your task in silence. When you are going through this kind of noble silence. You can hear the most in-depth calls of your heart. By establishing mindful breathing, you welcome silence into your own space. Allowing you to embrace the beautiful world around you, from the scenery to the sound of nature. In the book, Noble silence is practiced by talking when you need to but using the rest of your day and time in silence. This can teach you a lot about yourself and the world around you.

Overall

I would recommend this book to an overthinker and look for a way to silence your mind from the harmful noise. This is my third time reading this book, and every time I learn something new. Practicing connecting with nature, yourself, and listening to your inner voice are things that I practice with shadow work and just healing in general. If you have any tips or want to know more about my journey with the book Silence The Power of Quiet in a World Full of Noise. Reach out; the more we can heal each other, maybe, just maybe, we can gain some kind of peace with each other.
