Entrepreneur Henry Ford once said, “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” When Steve Jobs announced he was going to put a thousand songs in your pocket, people said he should stick with computers, and when Bill Gates dropped out of college, no one could’ve foreseen the success of Microsoft.

All great Entrepreneurs all have one thing in common, they think outside the box. They don’t do what other people tell them and that’s because they are not them. They don’t always listen to others, because sometimes they just have to listen to themselves. They have to do what they think is right to make some difficult choices, wherein other situations most people would fail. This is not to say that they are infallible, they are humans too and prone to mistakes. They had their own personal struggles, laying in rags and growing to riches.

All great entrepreneurs are enlightened beings that can see the secrets to success. They all share similar characteristics while also standing out making them iconic.

Becoming An Enlightened Entrepreneur

Enlightenment and entrepreneurism embody similar qualities to an extent, some more dominant than others. Regardless of Contemporary belief, the dichotomy of Business and Spirituality are not esoteric and foreign, but more close at hand and local. Achieving success in both fields requires a disciplined mindset, patience, optimism, and resourcefulness.

Qualities of an Entrepreneur

Creativity- Using imagination to innovate

Persuasiveness- Know how to convince others that are doubtful

Vision- Has tremendous foresight, can see what others can’t

Versatility- Has many skills that can come in handy

Risk tolerance- Can psychological endure losing

Flexibility- Doesn’t fight, but accepts changes

Decisiveness- Makes clear cut and timely decisions

Qualities of an Enlightened Being

Happiness- Enlightened beings are the happiest people in the world.

Not Self-Centered- They see the bigger picture.

Emotionally Stable- It’s hard for people to get the best of them

Patient and Understanding- Takes time to look from other perspectives

Humble- Talks about themselves without boasting or bragging

Insightful and Open-Minded- Wise, experience, thinks outside of the box

Entrepreneurs and Enlightenment embody very similar traits, some are more for business and work and others are more personal and inner. If we can embody both of them in ourselves then we can make a true recipe for success.

They Ask The Right Questions

There is absolutely no point in taking the time and effort if you don’t even ask any questions. To get from point A to point B, you have to know how to get there. Without asking any questions it is a waste of time. Asking the wrong questions will only give you the wrong answers.

If you don’t know exactly what the right question is then ask broader ones. For instance, if you’re a filmmaker start by asking broader questions like, “what equipment should I learn to use as a filmmaker?” Once answered, then ask more specific questions like “how do I zoom/focus on this Cannon DSLR?”

They Are Very Persuasive

It was not easy for Steve Jobs to lure Pepsi CEO, John Sculley away from his company to Co-found Apple. After a long discussion, John Sculley got to know Steve Jobs very well and thanked him, but remained adamant on turning down the dark-haired, 20 something-year-old’s offer.

Jobs stuck standing in silence was star-struck. Still paused, up-close and personal in front of Sculley, Jobs thought of one of his most provocative questions to date. Jobs told Sculley “Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life, or come with me and change the world?”

Sculley said that question hit him like a punch straight in the gut. Shortly after that Sculley set out with his new business partner to change the world.

They Turn Failures Into Opportunities

When Steve Jobs left Apple he made a 12 million dollar mistake. His early computer models the LISA and Apple 3 were failures in the commercial marketplace. People just couldn’t afford them and they were slow and inefficient. When Steve founded NeXT he was able to improve the computer processing software in the 1990s. Apple had the hardware for the computers but the software was slow. When Next failed to take off, Apple bought it for 453 million dollars, soon after Steve Jobs came back to Apple as the CEO.

Becoming an enlightened entrepreneur is the key to success

Disciplined Mind

If you’re like some people then you probably closely associate the term discipline with some sort of grade school punishment to “set you straight.” However, the truth is having self-discipline is so much more than that. In business, discipline allows you to do your job effectively and orchestrate business commitments.

In meditation a disciplined mindset allows you to sit in uncomfortable positions for long periods while practicing mindfulness. When you are in a relationship or working at a job, you commit yourself to the task voluntarily. Meditation is a voluntary commitment, you are agreeing with yourself to practice a discipline to concentrate no matter what.

Entrepreneurism and Enlightenment are disciplines that tame the mind, body, and soul. Today business encourage yoga and meditation to get a more productive workflow

How to Connect: Interpersonally and Intra-personally

Spirituality shows you how to connect with yourself, while business shows how you connect with others. Spirituality develops an intra-personal relationship with yourself. It is important in knowing yourself and knowing your limits, your potential, and your weaknesses. In business, you develop interpersonal relationships with others. Having communication skills are important for success.

Time isn’t money, Time is life- Time is so much more than a dollar sign. Time is limited. Every second spent should be used to make the most out of it. We spend too much emphasis on the dollar than the dream.

Know Your Real Worth- In Business everything has a price tag, but in Spirituality you are priceless. Dignity will never come by having others validate your worth. Have self-respect for yourself, the most valuable commodity.

Self Respect is Valuable- Unfortunately, people who lack worth always lack self-respect, are walked on, and easy to manipulate. Others will not have respect for you if you can’t have respect for yourself. People like this are unable to calculate the dignity of man, as they believe they are disposable and have a price tag that can be bought.

Patience Is A Virtue- Whatever you are meditating or in a business proposition. Success won’t happen overnight. If you want results, then have patience. Meditation For the long term

Takeaway

Many people tend to forget that there is more to life than just money and materialisms. The business of spirituality has come out of the monasteries and into the cubicles.
