Abuse in a relationship

Abuse from her eyes

By Samantha MckenziePublished 4 years ago • 3 min read

When we speak about about abuse in a relationship, people tend to only think of physical abuse. But couple experience more than that, there is emotional abuse, imagine being ignore by your partner or having them belittle you, that feeling is depressing and sad. There is also mental, financial and sexual abuse that one experience in a relationship.

Love is not something she give upon easily, not because he cheats or abuse her, it is a feeling that resonates within her. She know many times people then to say, if he is being abusive to her why not leave the relationship, the answer to that question is' love.' When you love someone, when your heart beats as one, when you feel their pan, sorrow and happiness there is nothing wrong that person can do and you don't try to get around it.

The person she see's when she's being abuse is not this monster controlling freak, but her loving, kind, generous, compassionate and caring husband. She see the best version of him, the good in him that will someday overcome the bad, the man she falls deeply in love with, the man who would buy her flowers and tell her how beautiful she is, the man who went on one knee and ask her to be his wife. So she will listen to her heart and stay even though he treat her terrible, she try's to find ways not to get him angry. At times she even blames herself for doing things that trigger him, knowing how it will end for her.

She made the decision once to walk away, seeing that the relationship was no longer healthy and was damaging her mentally and she could not manage the hurt and abuse any longer, but then he start to apologize and bring her on nice dates and even buy her very expensive gifts and promise to go to couples therapy, just to let her know he is willing to try and work things out. In that moment, she fall in love all over again, 'how can she left a man that's so sweet?' But then he start to miss his appointments and hes back to his old ways, yet her heart is not giving her the courage to walk away. There is also the thought of she not being able to get get through this and find love again.

She also think society is going to see her as someone that could not fight for her marriage. To you, I'll say: your strong, confident, and lovable, you will overcome this and when you decide to walk away, hold your head high. Be resilient, let society see you as a vigorous woman that was able to endure all that you have been through and even though you were still in love, find the courage to walk away. Its hard to left something that was so special to you, something that was suppose to last forever, but when you decide to leave that it shows how you have grown and that you have finally decide to take a leap of faith and work on yourself.

It's time to heal and work on you self-esteem, to believe in yourself again and when your healing process has come to an end, the love that will find you is going to be one of the future, it is going to be so pure and real, you will instantly forget about your past. At times it may cross your mind why was I ever in such an uncomfortable situation when I could be this happy, but a lot of times we have to climb hills, mountains and valley just reach a level of being comfortable.
