7 Ways To Be Happy Alone

How To Be Happy Alone

By Berina KaricPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

Some people love to spend time with themselves, while for others it is the most dreadful task. They dislike every moment they have to spend at home alone and often look for ways to avoid such situations.

However, the fact of the matter is that spending time alone doesn't have to be boring and negative. In fact, it can leave you feeling relaxed and even happy.

Here are seven ways to feel happy while being alone:

1. Do not waste time with people who are toxic for your well-being

It does not matter if they are friends, family or romantic partners - if you feel that the relationship is harming you more than it's helping, then you have to change something about it. You can't just sit there and suffer because of the opinion of others.

People who are toxic for you will always find a way to make themselves feel better, by making you feel bad.

If the people who are supposed to love you unconditionally do not support your decisions and make it clear that they think of them as irresponsible or plain stupid, then you should ask yourself how much longer you want to keep them in your life.

2. Do not waste your precious time on negative people

Negative people are everywhere, especially in large cities where it can be hard to escape them.

Their misery attracts you because of its familiarity - they complain about the same stuff as you do - but avoid spending more than five minutes with these kind of people or interacting with them on social media. The more time you spend with people who are always sad, the sadder you will be yourself.

3. Express your anger

When it's something you feel really passionate about, like injustice or broken trust, then make sure to let people know how you feel about them and what they did wrong - but only when the time is right and the impact of your words will be strong.

It is crucial to do this in a calm and respectful manner, as others can see how you feel even when you don't say anything.

If you aren't able to express your anger without getting aggressive or rude, then it might be time to let go of those feelings - you cannot hold on to anger and resentment forever, neither towards each other nor towards yourself.

4. Love yourself

Take care of yourself physically and mentally, because that's the only way you will be able to take care of others if and when the time comes; Because without a healthy mind and body it is impossible to be happy.

If you don't love yourself, others won't either. And if you are not able to practice self-care, getting rid of your bad habits and finding happiness within yourself, then it will be extremely difficult for anyone to help you or be with you.

5. Make yourself happy

The one person who can always make you feel better is YOU .

You are the one person who matters most, so you should start to give yourself all of your attention.

Do not waste your time on people or things that do not make you feel good about yourself. Do not waste precious time on pointless drama, just because everyone else is doing it.

6. Live in the moment

Instead of focusing on the bad things that happened in the past, make an effort to enjoy what you have now.

Avoid overthinking and try not to get stuck in your head - there are several ways how you can live more in the moment .

7. Do something for others

One of the best ways to make yourself happy is by bringing happiness to others.

Do not overthink if you have nothing to give or how what you do can be helpful - just go and do it, because a smile on a small child's face might change the way you think about everything going on in your life.

People usually want to help others when they are happy themselves - so start thinking about what makes you happy and try to spread it around.
