Eleanor Roosevelt said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” In a somewhat similar context, I want to say, “No one can make you feel more good and confident than yourself.”

Success is made of 80% confidence and 20% action. Confidence makes your personality charming. Confidence makes you feel smart. Confidence helps you achieve goals. Without confidence, a person looks nothing but a dull, lifeless scarecrow.

And the good thing is confidence is not something you are born with. It is something you cultivate over time. Confidence is just like a plant. When you nurture it, it grows bigger, healthier, and prettier. When you ignore it, it dries and dies.

And today I’m going to tell you 4 insanely easy 5-minute habits you can cultivate to grow your confidence tree bigger and bushier.

1. First thing in the morning

We all have our favorite songs. And each song has some story, context, or memory attached to it. Scroll through your playlist and find out the songs that make you feel good, confident, and energetic. Songs that pump up your blood and make you feel like you are the king of this world.

When you wake up in the morning, the first thing you want to do is listen to one such song. Put your headphones on, blast the volume, close your eyes and listen to that song. Let it wash over you, your brain, and your heart.

Try to have a collection of at least 5–6 songs so you can listen to a different song every day of the week. This simple 5-minute activity will make you feel confident instantly and put you in a good mood right after you wake you.

2. Look at the mirror

Can you tell me what’s the one most common thing that makes us feel less confident? Our bodies. According to studies, 90% of people feel less confident because of the way their body looks. To feel confident from the inside, we are on the lookout for approval from the outside. And so it’s important that you stop feeling anxious about your body.

Your body is beautiful. No matter the shape, color, or ability. But it’s not easy to accept that. And hence this exercise. The activity I’m going to tell you may sound weird but it is the most effective one.

Spend 5 minutes every day looking at yourself in the mirror. If possible, be clothe-less, be naked. Break the stigma, get comfortable, and be confident with your body. Look at each part of your body in the mirror and repeat “I’m healthy. I’m beautiful. I’m smart.”

Put on the 5-minute timer and do this every day. If you gather the courage to do this naked, the first few days will be a hard struggle. But keep on going. Over time, you feel start to feel good, comfortable, and confident with yourself and your body.

3. Declutter

“To me, clothing is a form of self-expression — there are hints about who you are in what you wear.” — Marc Jacobs

Your clothes are responsible for 50% of your confidence. What your wear plays a huge part in your success. That’s why they say, dress up for the life you want.

Go through your closet and declutter every single piece of cloth that doesn’t fit, doesn’t make you feel good, and doesn’t look good on you. Put some effort into what you wear — clothes and shoes. You don’t need to hoard them. But don’t wear anything that makes you feel and look bored, homeless, and penniless.

Every morning dress up smart and look like a marvelous piece of art. You’ll be amazed by how confident this simple activity will make you feel.

4. Get Rejected

I know this sounds contradictory. How can be rejected make you feel confident? Well, when you get rejected sometimes, you lose confidence. But when you get rejected daily you get immune to the rejections. And down the line, they hold no power over you and your confidence level.

Every day find something where you know you’ll get rejected. Yes, the activity is getting rejected intentionally. It doesn’t have to be big. Go for small things like asking for a free cup of coffee at a cafe or a free ride home. Sometimes you can even go for bigger things like applying for a job you think it’s impossible to land. Mix it up. The goal is not to take the rejections seriously. Do it as fun, don’t get upset over them. Get excited and ask yourself every day, “Where can I get rejected today?”.

Sometimes you’ll get unexpected results. Instead of rejections, you’ll get acceptance. And those surprises will give you a boost to keep on trying this rejection game.

The best way to get over your fears is always to face them head on. Get over your fear of rejection to let your confidence soar.

Remember, you can achieve anything in life if you feel confident inside out. Believing in yourself is the foundation of success. The stronger the foundation of confidence is, the higher the height of success will be.
