Try silence. Seek for your own viewpoints. By @esenciapatagonia

Either if you are a frecuent traveler or a newbie, planning your next adventure in post - pandemic times, may be an opportunity for a new kind of travel.

Isolation had us 24/7 connected to a new remote paradigm that relativized travel, and made us believe we could be anywhere at any time. We seemed to be fine with it, but mandatory social distancing made us realize how much we need to deeply connect.

We are now thirsty for closer and meaningful experiences. Travel, from this point of view, becomes a bridge to new lifestyle choices, a time out for decision - making, a pause to reconsider habits, an opportunity to strengthen relationships.

Transformational travel is about traveling with a different mindset, starting from the inside out.

"To move allows us to leave home for the open road, where we can exult in the pleasure of going somewhere. But to become a savvy traveler means we need to move more than just our feet. We need to move our minds and our hearts if we are to have more than superficial encounters with other cultures."

Transformational Travel Council

Travel is now a synonym of freedom, an experience you are able to curate yourself, an open door for change.

Here are 3 ideas that will help you jump in your first transformational journey.

1) You’re not a tourist anymore, you are a traveler.

by @esenciapatagonia

Through the transformative travel lense, a destination turns into a territory ready to be explored.

Being a traveler means you own your trip. Ask yourself what do you need, what do you want to live, who do you want to travel with. Try to draw an itinerary following your inner goals more than a travel agency’s checklist.

How many times we feel like we need to rest from vacations? There's no place for transformation if we are only focused on a bucket list. Avoid that “capital cities travel race”, and pick programs aligned with your own pace, instead.

No matter how long you stay, give yourself the chance to live a place, taste their recipes, get lost in their corners.

Travel loose, leave some free time on your schedule for spontaneous plans. A free mind is open to deeper connection with lifestyle and time management choices you might be in search of back home.

2) Where others see a destination, you visit a community.

Anywhere we go, is home to someone. Remember that fact and you’ll find much more sense in everything you learn during your visit.

Listen to locals, observe them. Try eating, speaking, listening and even dancing like them.

by @esenciapatagonia

By choosing their home as your vacation, and buying local you are contributing to their development as a community and their culture conservation.

The potential impact you have on others by traveling makes your trip already transformative: it’s not a guilty pleasure when you are collaborating with a community’s sustainability and try to understand completely different manners from your own ones.

3) Make your visit count

Now that travel strings are released, try to make the most of every journey.

Pandemic times emphasized how urgently we need to take action in order to reach a positive impact. No matter how simple, travel with a purpose.

by @esenciapatagonia

When it comes to nature, flags don’t matter. Through travel, you become attached to other places’ matters such as conservation projects.

Plant trees, save a species…Talk to locals to find out their purpose in social, economic or environmental topics and how you can get involved with those you feel most identified with.

Through travel you can contribute to a better world.

There's more in traveling than just being in motion. Make the difference on your next trip.
