“I have to go to work on Mondays and yes everyone hates Mondays. But I look at it a little differently. I don’t have to work, I GET to work. I am blessed to have a job while many don’t have one.“ - Dinky Manuel

What is it about Monday that so many people hate and dread? It's a question you really don't have to think too hard about to discover the answer. In one word, it's work. Monday signals the start of another working week, and when our eyes open to the sound of our alarm ringing on a Monday morning, that dreaded thought of having five full days of work in front of us, before we reach another weekend, when we can next do something enjoyable, and feel a burst of happiness once again, leaves us feeling completely demotivated and dejected. It's bad enough being woken from what was a pleasant sleep, even if it was far from an adequate amount however, then have to pry ourselves out of bed at some ungodly hour, only to get up, rush to get ready, battle through a sea of horrific peak hour traffic, and endure 8 hours, or even more, of having to do something we don't even enjoy doing. It's not much comfort knowing that we have to then battle through more horrific peak hour traffic on our return home, before we finally get to enjoy a few hours relaxing with our partner and/or family, only to then face the prospect of another four days of this same crappy lifestyle until the weekend again. That's why Monday sucks the most, because it's the furthest day away from the weekend. Five days of suffering before we can be happy again. Is it true also that the traffic is always at its worst on a Monday, and our customers and workmates are at their grumpiest, or is it just this perceived reality we create for ourselves? One thing is for certain though, the majority of people who work a Monday to Friday job or business, and dislikes the work they do, unanimously would vote Monday as their most hated day of the week.

It really is quite depressing to think about the number of people worldwide who basically live for the weekend, holidays, and/or retirement. They don't actually live between Monday and Friday, but merely exist. Talk about a wasted life! Let's be realistic though, it's not as if we can just rock up at work today and tell our boss to shove his job up his rear end, purely because we hate the job and we don't like working, as we need to be generating an income to survive, after all. Nothing is keeping us to remain in the job we work either though. We are not a hostage to our job, we remain there by choice. We are in fact keeping ourselves hostage to something we don't enjoy. The big question is though, what is stopping us from finding work we would enjoy, something in which we have a passion for? Work is a part of life, so we need to remove the fantasy of not having to work and be living a life of luxury, out of our head. We need to eat, we require shelter, and we need to pay various bills, such is survival, therefore let's get real and focus back on the need to work, so we can generate an income to support our survival. That then leaves us with two choices. We can either continue working the job or business we are in, to which we immensely dislike, and continue genuinely living for just two days of the week, or we can invest time into creating a business or applying for a job in a line of work we actually have a passion for, and start to enjoy all seven days of the week. Work can be enjoyable, and 1 in every 10 workers in the world will vouch for that, because they were courageous and committed enough to actually pursue something they enjoyed, and what provides them with work satisfaction. The other 9 out of every 10 workers in the world sacrifice their happiness and lifestyle to settle for any old job, all for the sake of some sort of paycheck.

Mondays only suck for those who hate their job, because the real truth is that Mondays are just as wonderful as any other day of the week. Mondays are a scapegoat to blame for those too lazy, fearful, and lacking in willpower, to go out and find work they are passionate about. Mondays are actually a blessing, just like every day of our life is! If you dislike or hate Mondays, then it's a clear sign that your job is not your passion, and therefore you need to get off your butt and invest time into finding work that you do enjoy, be it starting your own business, or finding a job that excites you. It may require study, it may require time to get into, but if you're at least progressing towards entering into that job or business you are passionate about, then that's a win for your future. Monday is an awesome day of the week, and below are 20 quotes to help encourage you to see that, to help you understand what a blessing they truly are, and to inspire you as you go about the Monday that is today!
