One of the strongest beliefs that society has created is that work is not supposed to be enjoyable, and it's merely a means of generating money legally, in order to survive. How many people do you hear around you who regularly count down the days until the weekend, or they love bitching about how much their job sucks, or they continually refer to how much they are looking forward to retirement? Perhaps you, yourself, are one of these people? It's quite funny, when I think back on my nightclubbing days, to when the DJ would play Blink 182's song "All The Small Things", and the crowd there would yell the words "work sucks" at the top of their voices, whenever that lyric came on. It's a perfect summary of exactly how mainstream society perceives their respective jobs, and the work they do. I've mentioned this statistic a lot in my blog entries, but nearly 9 out of every 10 workers in the world, actually hate or dislike their job or business. Yep, so basically nearly 9 out of 10 people are merely living for the weekend, annual leave, and retirement, because everything else around these three times, actually sucks. Considering that one third of the time between the ages of 18 and 65 is spent working in a job or a business, that also means that nearly 9 out of every 10 people spend one third of these 47 years feeling unhappy and miserable. That's a damn huge amount of time to be wasting away life feeling sad, unhappy, and miserable, all because of a job or a business. So then it comes back to "well what the hell are we meant to do about it, because we need an income after all?". There is something else I mention quite a lot of in my blog entries also, and they are three words that read "pursue your passion", and it's these three words that actually answer the above question.

What does it mean to pursue your passion? To have passion is to have a strong and barely uncontrollable emotion, an intense desire or enthusiasm for something. Despite what society leads us to believe, it is possible to have a passion for our work, and those 1 out of 10 people who actually do enjoy their job or their business, would firmly agree. Every single one of us have a passion, maybe even a few passions, in life, which bring us happiness, enjoyment, and satisfaction. Perhaps the easy way to reveal your passion is to think of a hobby or interest. Once we get clear on, and have an awareness of, exactly what our passion is, then it's up to us to turn that passion into our career. There are certain corporate jobs in which people have a passion for, but a lot of the time, in order to turn a hobby or an interest into a line of work, we need to create a business. Let's face it, we do indeed need to be working, so we can generate an income in order to survive, therefore we have three choices. The first choice is the most popular amongst people, which is of course picking any random job for the sake of it, just for income's sake. Considering that this is the option in which 9 out every 10 people are unhappy and they hate their job, it's the worst of the three choices. We sentence ourselves to 47 years of misery and unhappiness, in doing so. The second choice is to discover a corporate job that fits the bill as to the line of work we are truly passionate about. A lot of the time, this option requires certain qualifications, and one thing that is a part of life in order to create happiness, satisfaction, and success, is to make sacrifices. Choosing this option may mean we will need to get ourselves qualified, complete the respective university course, no matter our age, but understand that it will take a couple of years of sacrifice, study, and hard work, in order to find our passion and enjoy long term future happiness, success, and satisfaction. Get qualified, and then get applying! The final of the three choices is to indeed start our own business. This one scares people the most because we were never educated about entrepreneurship in school, we have never done anything such as this previously, society has us believe that businesses only ever end up failing, we don't believe we have the required knowledge or skills, and it involves risk. With all this though, it is the ultimate choice of truly turning our passion into a profession, because we are control, we have the flexibility, and we determine the success or failure, dependant on our attitude and commitment. The thing is, we need to invest time and effort into researching our options, devising an action plan, and committing ourselves then to that action plan. Work can be enjoyable, I am testament to that. When you love what you do, work doesn't feel like work at all, it feels like enjoying the time engaging in your hobby every single day. You need to take risks, make changes, and make sacrifices in life, if you truly want happiness and success, and that includes our career.
