Improving your life doesn't have to be a major overhaul of your choices leading up to this point. There are plenty of little things you can do to make it better right now. Start small, and let your new choices influence where you go in the future.

1. Learn To Be Thankful

Instead of focusing on what you don't have, take a few minutes to think about all of the great people and things already in your life. Make a gratitude jar and place it somewhere you go past frequently. Make it a habit to add a pebble and saying something you are thankful for each time you walk by. You might be pleasantly surprised at how quickly it fills up.

2. Be Sure To Get Enough Sleep

Getting enough sleep is critical to your overall health and wellness. If you find yourself struggling to fall asleep, it may be time to check out a new natural latex mattress. The material offers great support that can help ease aching and tired backs.

3. Turn Your Focus Inward

Take 15 minutes from each day to focus your attention inward. Learn a basic mindful breathing technique designed to help you relax and refocus. You should notice benefits within a week as you begin to realize what you have control over and let go of the things you don't.

4. Take Time To Smile

While deceiving yourself is not generally a good practice, there are times when it can help you feel better. The simple act of smiling can actually make you feel happier, even if you really don't feel like smiling in the first place. So, go ahead and break out that cheesy grin. Tell a few bad jokes if you have to. After all, you're never fully dressed without a smile.

5. Start a Stretching Routine

Regular stretching can give you a boost both emotionally and physically. It promotes relaxation and stress relief, which makes you more emotionally resilient. Stretching also releases tension from your muscles, which results in increased flexibility and range of motion.

6. Stop Procrastinating

Putting off what needs to be done can lead to serious problems, like poor work performance or not having groceries in the house. While there may not be general agreement on why people procrastinate, some research indicates that people are less likely to put off things that have meaning for them. If you find that you are a chronic procrastinator, then maybe you need to evaluate why you are not completely certain tasks.

7. Eat a Balanced Diet

Eating a diet that lets you get the necessary calories and nutrients from whole food sources is one of the best things you can do for your overall health. Avoid fad diets that eliminate entire food groups or have overly restrictive rules. Instead, look to diets that focus on healthy eating as a lifestyle choice, such as the nutritionist-favorite DASH and Mediterranean diets.

8. Share What You Have

Countless studies show that people who donate their time, talents, and gifts are happier and more fulfilled. Think of what you have to share and find somewhere that needs it. Even if you only have an hour a week, there is likely a local group that would be overjoyed to have your help. Check out tutoring services, homebound meal deliveries for seniors, and animal shelters, depending on your interests.

9. Declutter Your Space

Clutter laying around leads to disorganized thinking and wasted time. Luckily, there is a simple solution: decluttering. Take five minutes each day to put something away.

10. Let Go of the Past

No matter where you find yourself right now, the only way to get better is to move forward. Let go of what happened in the past and look to the brighter future that is in store for you.

Stop making excuses and start embracing the life you have only dreamed of. By making sound choices and looking toward the future, you will be well on your way to a better life.
