Did you know that lemon juice can be a great alternative to deodorant? What can be used to treat burns with tea? That coffee is an excellent fertilizer for indoor plants? Amazing, right? It turns out that conventional products are capable of more than we expected from them.

1. Baking soda

Plain baking soda can be a great helper on the path to health and beauty. The main thing is not to confuse baking soda with baking powder - despite the fact that one can easily replace the other in baking, they have different chemical properties. So, with the help of soda you can ...

Wash fruits and vegetables. Dissolve a couple of tablespoons of baking soda in water and wash the fruits and vegetables. Of course, if you grew them yourself, there is no need for this, but purchased fruits are often covered with various compositions for better preservation, chemicals that were sprayed on trees may remain on them - in general, a whole bunch of them may await you on the way to delicious vitamins various, far from useful substances. Regular baking soda will easily eliminate all of this.

Treat burns. Dissolve the baking soda in water and apply to the burned area to relieve pain.

Brush your teeth. Dilute the baking soda to the consistency of a thick paste in a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution and apply to the brush. This is the fastest and cheapest toothpaste substitute you can think of: it will kill all harmful bacteria in your mouth.

Extinguish fires. Yes, soda will even save you from fire. If something suddenly catches fire in the kitchen, just throw a handful of baking soda into the flame: when heated, the baking soda produces carbon dioxide, which will put out the fire.

2. Honey

Honey is not just a natural sugar substitute. It can be used in other situations as well, for example ...

Heal chapped lips. Combine almond oil, beeswax and honey and use the resulting mixture as a soothing lip balm. This product will perfectly protect your lips from drying out.

Relieve cough. These are not just grandmother's tales, research has shown that honey is really effective in treating coughs and sore throats, and no less than cough syrups.

Moisturize dry skin. Honey is a great home remedy for moisturizing problematic dry areas like elbows. Apply honey to the problem area and leave for 30 minutes. Most importantly, do not forget to wash it off later, otherwise you will stain everything in the apartment, and on the street you will attract too much unwanted attention to yourself - especially from the bees.

3. Avocado

Avocado can be used not only as an independent ingredient in dishes! Also with its help you can ...

Make a face mask. Avocado perfectly moisturizes and nourishes the skin. Mix the avocado pulp with yogurt and apply it all over your face, or even just spread the pulp in a thick layer - your skin will thank you for that. And despite the fact that avocado is a rather high-calorie thing, no one will judge you if you immediately eat the remaining pulp.

Replace some other products. For example, avocado can replace oil in some desserts, and it is also a great alternative to fattier and less healthy mayonnaise.

4.Tea

Everyone has long known that tea has antioxidant properties. But here are a few things that you can do with tea, which are not at all obvious.

Treat thermal burns. Chilled black tea is an excellent remedy for burns. Just apply black tea compresses to soothe burned skin.

Treat sunburn. For these cases, chilled chamomile tea is perfect. Although, of course, in some cases it is better not to self-medicate, but to see a doctor.

Moisturize the skin. Add green tea to your moisturizer and your skin will be grateful.

Marinate the beef. Yes, black tea is an excellent marinade that will soften even tough meat.

Scent your laundry. Throw a couple of tea bags in your laundry and it smells good. It's also a great way to deodorize your sneakers after a strenuous workout.

5.Coffee

So what can you do with coffee?

Fight unpleasant odors. Just leave the ground coffee where the unpleasant odor has spread, for example, if your entire refrigerator smells like fish. And if you recently chopped onions or garlic and now you cannot wash off this smell from your hands, then a coffee scrub will help you perfectly.

Cleanse the skin of the face. Mix a tablespoon of coffee grounds and half a spoonful of olive oil for a natural face scrub.

Fertilize indoor plants. Spray the ground around the plants with chilled brewed coffee for an excellent nitrogen-rich fertilizer. Plants will love it.

By the way, a coffee maker in the house is an irreplaceable thing, especially in the mornings, when there is absolutely no time to make coffee on the stove. However, this is not the only benefit you can get from a coffee maker, because it has such convenient filters! With their help you can ...

Make Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt is not cheap in stores, but you can easily make it yourself at home. Place regular yogurt in a coffee filter, place the filter over a container and leave overnight. Voila! In the morning, your Greek yogurt is ready.

Cook the soup. Tired of catching bay leaves from your soup while eating? Simply place the pepper, bay leaf, and other flavors in the filter and dip into the pot while cooking. When the soup is ready, you can quickly and easily empty it all out of the pot.

Brew tea. Fold the tea leaves and various fruit pieces into a filter, and then put them in boiling water. Tasty, original and simple!

6.Lemons

Lemons smell very good, contain just an amazing amount of vitamin C, but their beneficial properties do not end there. With their help you can ...

Keep other vegetables and fruits from browning. Add a little lemon juice to the guacamole, drizzle over freshly cut apples or potatoes - the oxidation process will slow down and the fruits and vegetables will not darken longer.

Do without deodorant. Of course, this is not a 100% replacement for modern antiperspirants that work for 24 hours, but if you suddenly find that the deodorant is out and there is no running to the store for a new time, lemon juice will help you out. Apply it to your underarms and it will get rid of the unpleasant odor for a while, at least until you are near the store.

Protect from insects. If ants attack you, simply sprinkle lemon juice on the floors and doorways through which they crawl, this will scare them away. Wash the floors with water and lemon juice and insects will stop crawling into your house. And dried lemon peels, laid out in the closet, will protect your outerwear from moths.

Lighten hair. After washing, rinse your hair with diluted lemon juice (1: 3) and let it dry in the sun. Repeat the procedure for several days and you will see that your hair is miraculously lightened by several tones.

7.Whiskey

Oddly enough, but yes, whiskey can also be good for our body. If, of course, you use it wisely, for example ...

Treat sore throat. Our grandmothers believed that with the help of strong alcoholic drinks, a toothache could be cured. This is rather doubtful if you do not drink so much that the toothache simply ceases to bother, but with the help of whiskey you can soothe a sore throat. Add a tablespoon to warm water and gargle - your throat should soon pass. For an even faster effect, you can also add a teaspoon of honey to this mixture.

Flavor baked goods. Add whiskey to cookies, cakes or any other baked goods for a much more aromatic and spicy flavor that you can't confuse with anything else.

8.Chewing gum

Chewing gum perfectly freshens breath and cleans the oral cavity after eating, but this is not the end of its beneficial properties. She helps ...

Reduce appetite. Studies have shown that people who chew gum after dinner stay full longer and are more likely to skip desserts and snacks. And this is logical, because when people chew gum, they perform actions that the body perceives as food intake: chewing, salivation and swallowing. The brain thinks that food has entered the stomach, and stops giving signals of hunger. But you should be careful with this: when the brain decides that food has entered the stomach, gastric juice begins to be secreted. This is not very useful, since in the absence of food for digestion, the concentration of gastric juice increases, and this can provoke gastritis and even ulcers.

Calm the nerves. In addition to cleansing your mouth and reducing appetite, chewing gum can also help calm your nerves and reduce stress - which, by the way, will also save you from overeating.

9.Beer

Yes, just like whiskey, beer can be good for our body - the main thing is to use it correctly. For example, you can use it ...

Wash your hair. Beer washes hair perfectly and even strengthens it. If you still doubt its cleansing properties, just rinse your hair that has already been washed with beer. After a few days of these rinses, you will notice that your hair looks much healthier.

Moisturize your feet. Add beer to your foot cream to moisturize and eliminate bad odor.

Marinate the meat. If you still want to use beer for its intended purpose, that is, inside, here's a great way: marinate the steak in it before frying. The meat will be tastier, softer and juicier, and the beer will not settle on your sides.

Season the risotto. Instead of white wine, you can add a little beer to the risotto - unconventional, but also very tasty.
