You might be doing everything right; you must be having intense workouts owing to the personal training, you are eating the right diet, you are resting well, but you are still not able to meet your weight loss goals. It can be frustrating to have a protruded lower belly, thick love handles, or fat thighs, especially if you are giving your best at the gym. Well, there are numerous reasons why you are not able to lose the extra fat around your body.

Below are the nine reasons why your body is holding onto those extra pounds. Please read the points below, and you may realize what is stopping you from losing weight.

1 – You are over-indulging in drinks

It might hurt you, but you have to avoid alcohol if you want to lose weight. Once in a while, you can enjoy spirits like vodka with a zero-calorie drink. You must know that beer, wine, and sugar-packed alcohol drinks are super high in calories.

Alcohol has about nine calories per gram itself. You can drink moderately, but if you are over-indulging in alcoholic beverages, then you are likely to gain more weight. Soft drinks and smoothies are high in fructose, so keep them to a minimum as well.

2 – Going overboard with food on the weekend

It would be best if you did not overindulge with food on weekends; such binge eating can ruin your efforts of eating healthy for an entire week. Of course, you deserve some pampering when you take personal training and sweat extensively at the gym.

But it would help if you refrained from going overboard with food. It helps when you pay attention to the portion size of food and weigh yourself on weekdays. Studies have found that people tend to eat more fats and drink too much alcohol on Saturdays, but you have to avoid the same.

3 – Not eating adequate protein

Protein is primarily crucial if you want to lose weight. Your protein consumption should be around 25% to 30% of your daily calorie consumption. It not only boosts your metabolism but also reduces your overall calorie consumption by hundreds or so calories.

It helps when you have a protein-packed breakfast, it will make you feel less hungry throughout the day. It will also lower your cravings for junk foods. You should maintain a high protein intake at all times. It helps in both gaining muscle and losing fat.

4 – You eat while watching TV

It helps when you drink your food and chew your water. It means you should chew your food thoroughly and sip your water slowly. If you want to have the best gastrointestinal health and want to avoid consuming extra calories, then you should practice mindful eating.

When you eat while watching TV or scrolling on your smartphone, you are likely to eat more calories than you need. You don’t realize if you’re full when you care more about what’s going on an electronic screen rather than what’s on your plate.

5 – Not consuming healthy fats

When you eat healthy fats, it makes your brain feel that you are full. Thus, it reduces cravings and binge eating. You should include healthy fats in your diets, such as avocados, nuts, and olive oil, etc. Such healthy fats stimulate the production of a particular compound in your small intestine.

It further sends a signal to your brain to curb hunger and makes you feel full. But, you should also avoid gaining weight from healthy fats by keeping your intake to a minimum of 2-3 tablespoons a day or a handful of nuts.

6 – You don’t sleep well

You might not know, but sleeping too little can make you feel more hungry through out the day. A well-rested body is responsible for proper mental as well as physical health. Not to mention, sleep also helps with losing weight. After the intensive personal training sessions, your body demands rest.

If you sleep for seven to nine hours at night, then it will promote weight loss. But, if you sleep too little or too much, you are likely to feel sluggish throughout the day. And it will also make you crave junk foods like pizza, fries, etc.

7 – Not mixing up your training

You might be eating healthy and working out regularly, but you may still not lose weight. You might not know, but carrying the same workout routine and the same diet plan for a considerable time can prevent you from losing those extra pounds.

You can counter that problem by hiring a personal trainer for your specific fitness goals. The trainer will spice up your workout and include exercise that encourages fat loss. Not to mention, you will also receive a customized diet plan that will indeed help you shed fat.

8 – You don’t drink enough water

It’s best if you realize that water intake is a must, irrespective of your fitness goal. TO stay hydrated, men need to drink about 3.5 liters of water, and women need to drink 2.5 liters of water per day.

study also stated that people who drank about two glasses of water half an hour before their meals lost 44% more weight than others who did not. You must also know that adequate water intake also increases calories burned per hour by 24% to 30%. All in all, please remember to drink at least eight glasses of water per day.

As a final observation

Those were the nine reasons why your body is not sheeting that extra weight. By reading those above reasons, you will realize what is causing your body not to lose the fat. So, please refrain from above weight-inducing practices and include healthier habits in your routine.

You can consider hiring a personal trainer to provide you with customized training and diet according to your body. It will not only help you lose fat, but it will also make you a healthier person overall.
