Well, according to a new survey by The National Weight Control Registry (a nonprofit organization that tracks the results of more than 10,000 individuals who have lost weight and kept it off) that only 16 percent of Americans are classified as active dieters by their own standards. In other words, most of us can’t seem to stick with one for extended period of time. Luckily, smaller changes are easier to maintain and often lead to faster results. If you’re serious about shedding some pounds then these seven strategies are exactly what you need to kick-start your weight loss journey.

Keep track of what you eat

The foods you eat, how much, and when are just as important as how much you eat. This is especially true when you’re trying to lose weight. For example, a small decrease in the number of calories you consume per day can result in rapid weight loss if you make more of those calories come from fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods.
