Of late, millennials are inclined towards learning innovative things and that is why many individuals are today showing huge interest in learning the art of making scented candles at home. Scented candles have caught the fascination of many people as they not only give out pleasant smells but also add aesthetic value to your home.

There is no rocket science involved in crafting scented candles & once you learn it there is no looking back. There are certain things needed for you to make the candles in your home. You will need-

 Double Boiler Pot

 Candle Wax

 Spatula

 Container or Glass Jars

 Scented Oils

 Candle Wicks

 Wick Centering Material

Now, that you have gathered all these materials, you can start with the crafting process of the scented candles.

Prepare Your Container

The first step towards preparing scented candles is preparing the container or the glass jar that you have collected. Most people prefer a glass jar because it looks pleasing and you can keep it anywhere you like. Besides that, after the candle is poured in a container it cannot be pulled out before it is burned.

In addition to this, you should also make sure that the container or the glass jar that you are using must be strong and free from any dirt and debris. After you have completed all this task it is then time to proceed with the melting of the melting of the wax.

Measure & Melt the Wax

It is very important to measure the wax when pouring the wax flakes into the container and fill the container to the height you want the candle surface to start. You can take out the double boiler pot now pour all the wax shavings or flakes in it and heat it up slowly.

This is when you should use the spatula to carefully stir the wax while they are getting heated. The wax will start melting after some time and the time taken for a particular wax to melt depends on the material they are made up of. There are some people who use a thermometer to measure the heat of the wax as normally all types of wax will melt completely at 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

Add Your Scent

This is the most important step in the making of the scented candles. Most of the time people seek out crafted scented candles learning lessons only to get themselves acquainted with this process. Adding fragrance to your candle making is an art and you need to get creative in this step.

Some people like to add single-note scents to their candles and if you are new to candle-making process then you can start with a single exotic smell like rosemary, bergamot, and mandarin. Generally, people have a common query regarding the quantity of scented oil they need to add to the wax.

Well, there is no straight answer to this question and the quantity of scented oil that you need to add will depend on the richness of fragrance. In addition to this, there are certain scented oils available in the market that are specifically used in crafting scented candles.

Now, often it is seen that while adding scent to the wax people forget to stir the mixture and this will often lead to occasions when the candle will be burning but you won’t get any smell from it and to avoid this type of situation, you need to constantly stir the mixture slowly with the spatula while adding the scented oils.

Fix the Wick & Wind Up

Prior to pouring the candle, you will need to attach the wick in place and you will find that the wicks come with a flat metal bottom. You should lower the metal end of the wick into the melted wax and place it in the center of the glass jar or container whatever you are using.

If the wick tends to fall off from the center of the glass jar, then you can use the wick centering device to make it stable. After stabilizing the wick in its place you can pour the wax with utmost caution as it will be quite hot. The melted wax will take a couple of hours to harden completely and you should leave it as it is & after it hardens you can use scissors to trim the wick.

Finally

The above-discussed steps are a complete guide to crafting scented candles at home without any fuss. Scented candles have caught the fascination of everyone as they not only give out a pleasant smell but also add to the aesthetic appeal of your dwelling space.
