Using Copaiba Oil to Help Manage Meltdowns Associated with Autism

This is my personal testimonial and should not replace medical advice.

***Much of this post is an excerpt from a Facebook post that went viral a while ago. I am sharing it because it has helped so many people so far, that I feel it needs a bigger platform. If it helps you too, please share. ***

The day I wrote the original post, we had a breakthrough.

My good mate, Copaiba was a star yet again!

I'll explain a bit more about the copaiba plant soon, but for now, read on....

For anyone that has a child on the spectrum, or maybe you suffer with Autism yourself, you will know the horrors that come with a meltdown.

Now, for those of you who don't know much about the Autism spectrum, and what meltdowns are, let me give you a quick run down.

To the untrained eye, meltdowns might seem a bit like a child throwing a tantrum. The person it's happening to will usually be yelling and screaming irrationally, usually they'll be crying, sometimes kicking and punching, rolling around on the floor. Sometimes there's self harm involved, hitting themselves, or their head/limbs on things—the wall, the floor, a glass window etc... It truly is horrific to watch, and even more horrific to experience first hand. It's completely debilitating to the person it's happening to, and completely uncontrollable. Once it starts, rarely is an outsider (parent, carer, friend or loved one) able to intervene. It's a bit (but not really) like a sneeze, or an epileptic fit. You just have to let it happen and run its course. There's no stopping it once it starts.

So imagine all of this is going on, and you're having a horrible time coming down afterward. It takes a fair bit to recompose yourself afterwards because of the huge toll it takes on your emotions, and your body.

You're spent. Wasted. Exhausted. Your brain doesn't function properly, because you're just SO exhausted. You can't make sense of what people are saying to you, it's just all jumbled and very overwhelming.

You want the world to go away.

This is what my 14 year old son used to experience on a daily basis.

This morning it happened to him because of something so minute to you or me, something that would have been a total non-issue. His socks felt funny.

My son has pretty bad sensory issues as a result of his Autism, and today his life just couldn't go on, because he didn't like his socks.

So he tried to find another pair. They were wrong.

He found another pair. Also wrong. He went through literally every single sock in this house (and we are a family of 6 so there are A LOT of socks), they were all wrong wrong wrong.

By the 551561321211323rd sock, his stress levels were at overload, and a meltdown ensued.

It was ugly.

So I got his Copaiba roller bottle, and rolled two lines from his tailbone, up the length of his spine, to the nape of his neck. (this bottle is diluted, I will share the formula at the end of this article.)

Then I walked upstairs, made up a gel capsule containing two drops of straight Copaiba, filled a glass of water, and walked back downstairs. In the short amount of time this took, he was already starting to calm down. (Unassisted, without the use of Copaiba, he would take between 30 minutes and 2 hours to get to this point normally.)

I asked him to swallow the capsule and explained that it would help him feel better. So he did. The fact that he did that without a continuation of the original meltdown, was in itself, a miracle.

Not even 5 minutes later, and he was back to what I'd call his baseline. His normal, regulated, calm self. 'Surely this was too good to be true?' I thought.

Usually at this point when he calmed back down this far, he would then fall asleep from the exhaustion of the meltdown. I've noticed since using oils he recovers quickly and is able to function normally again without feeling exhausted.

A few hours after this morning's meltdown, he had an appointment with his behavioural specialist. His specialist wanted to do an exercise with him that involved drawing. Now, my son is a very talented artist, but has not picked up a pencil and sketched in over 6 months. He gets too frustrated when the picture is not perfect, and ends up in fits of rage. This has completely put him off drawing and he flat out refuses.

And don't get me started on handwriting. He won't write either for the same reason. School has had to introduce an iPad just to get him to participate in lessons.

Today at his appointment, his brain worked. All the neurons fired up when required, and he was able to have a proper conversation. He answered questions appropriately, and communicated effectively. He problem solved. Usually during a conversation, we're lucky to get a shrug and an "I dunno" because it's too much effort to think.

AND HE SKETCHED.

For the first time in over 6 months, my boy drew not one, but 3x A4 pictures. In addition to the pictures, he wrote things too. Words. Actual words on paper.

It's like I have a whole new son.

And to think all it took was two little drops of essential oil, and two stripes of oil rolled on his spine. He does not take any medication or any other alternative therapies. I am amazed. I simply can't rave about this oil enough.

For anyone wondering about the dilution ratio we use in the roller bottle, we use 5 drops copaiba, 3 drops vetiver, and 50 drops fractionated coconut oil. You could skip the vetiver and I believe it would still work, but I add the vetiver because my son is not a fan of the smell.

The capsules are two drops copaiba in a gel cap. For a child under 13, I would only use one drop in a gel cap for extreme issues. Otherwise just stick to topical use in a roller bottle.

I should also mention that at the time of posting this, we'd been trialling this oil for over a month now, with consistently excellent results. That was in November of 2017. It still works just as good as it did on day one. I also take it myself for anxiety and rheumatoid arthritis and again have found excellent results.

So, how does Copaiba oil work?

Originating from the Copaifera L. genus tree, the active components in copaiba essential oil are quite powerful, consisting mainly of terpenes, which are hydrocarbons that have significant effects on the functioning of our body. Fortunately for us, most of the side effects of the terpenes found in copaiba essential oil are very beneficial for our health.

You may have heard that Copaiba is very similar to CBD oil. Although it does not come from the Cannabis plant, the way it works is very similar. This is due to the interactions it has with the CB1 and CB2 receptors in our brain. I found a great article on Kimberleymilousis.com which explains it more here.

So for anyone sitting on the fence, wanting to wait a bit before taking the plunge, seriously what are you waiting for? This stuff is LIFE CHANGING. It has given us our boy back. I wish I had found it sooner!

Again, this is my personal testimonial, and does not replace doctor's advice. Thank you for reading.

If anyone would like to purchase 100% pure Copaiba Essential Oil, you can do so here. The vetiver oil that I use is also available on that link.

If you require gel caps, these are the ones I use.

If you have any questions or require further information you can email me directly at [email protected] I would love to help you have life changing results, just as we did.
