Things to Eat When You Have No Gallbladder

It's becoming a common phenomenon; people getting their gallbladder removed. Sometimes people don't realize what a dramatic effect it can be to remove a gallbladder. Most importantly, how it can affect your eating habits; furthermore, affecting your bodies way of digesting foods. Nor do they know of the pain involved with eating foods they can't digest without a gallbladder. This article will show many foods you can eat, with the ease of knowing that you will NOT get a stomach-ache.

Five months ago I underwent a surgery for the removal of my gallbladder. Not knowing what the major effects it can have on my body.

Numerous people don't know what a gallbladder is or what it does in the body. To put it in a simple explanation, the gallbladder regulates digestive bile into your intestine. Basically, it mainly helps your body digest fats in the food you eat. Therefore, in removing the gallbladder, your body will have an extremely hard time digesting fats.

When I had to get my gallbladder removed, I was just told not to eat any fats. What people do not know or understand is that fat is in basically everything! So of course, I made the mistake of not checking the nutrition facts to see how much fat I was in taking a day. This resulted in extreme stomach cramps, nausea, and sometimes diarrhea. The side effects of eating fat was so bad that it effects your day to day life. The problem is that it is extremely hard to find foods with no or low fat. I had no guidance to help me figure out what I should eat. I was just expected to eat like a giraffe. I couldn't find foods that were nutritious and filling. For this reason, I am putting together a list of healthy low to no fat food items for people that have no gallbladder.

1. Fruits

Fruits have little to no fat and come in a variety of different types. All fruits are acceptable to eat except avocados, which are technically a fruit. They contain healthy fats, but it doesn't matter in our case, healthy fats are still fats. Sadly.

2. Quinoa

Quinoa contains absolutely no fat. Many people eat quinoa as a rice substitute, considering it is a healthier alternative. I find boiling quinoa in chicken broth instead of plain water, creates a more flavorful outcome.

3. Lean Meats

Lean meats such as: chicken breasts, lamb, skinless pork and beef. these meats have a low fat content. Most commonly, I eat chicken because it is lean and affordable. Like many other items on this list, chicken has numerous ways to be prepared. But be careful of fried chicken! Fried chicken is fried in unhealthy fats that can upset your digestive system greatly. Try to stick to baked, barbecued, and pan seared chicken and other meats.

4. Seafood

Just like lean meats, seafood is very low on the fat scale. Well-known seafood like; shrimp, fish, oysters, scallops, and lobster make terrific options to eat for a meal. Just in fish itself; there's countless different types. What I find so miraculous about fish is that every kind taste differently. If you aren't a fan of fishy food items, then I suggest trying a fresh fish option such as recently wild caught fish. These fish usually don't have a fishy aftertaste.

5. Broth-Based Soups

Broth has a low fat volume; therefore eating a broth based soup can be ultimately filling without getting a stomachache. Staying away from a creamy based soup like Clam Chowder and Creamy Loaded Potato soup are ideal to stay away from. Cream-based soups contain an obscene amount of fats and salt.

These five things are the main items for a successfully healthy meal plan. Each of these items have countless options to be differently prepared and eaten. By eating these food items, you will find yourself with an abundant amount of energy. Feeling happy and healthy you can live day to day to the fullest.
