As the famous saying goes that “A fit life leads to a perfect life balance”

In the backdrop of the famous saying, a healthy life is necessary for a healthy life. As it is quite evident, that the spread of Covid 19 Pandemic has changed life style of every human being in almost every aspect of living whether it be work culture, eating habits, health or fitness.

Health and fitness are two major aspects of life. One needs to maintain a proper equilibrium between life and fitness. During spread of corona, everyone was forced to stay at their homes. Most of the fitness centre and gyms were order to be closed. Even Roaming and walking in roads and parks was blocked. Fitness business has been impacted in two ways. Obviously one is an advantageous way and the other is collapsed growth of fitness industry.

Firstly, if we talk about advantageous way then, Impact of Lockdown has forced people to think innovatively and to convert their places into mini fitness centers. In such a situation, fitness equipments/ products such as Resistance bands, weights, fitness gadgets, treadmills, home bicycles, exercise bikes were highly ordered and required. It is believed that regular exercise keeps the mind free and relaxed. People have turned their houses into mini gyms where they are sweating hard to keep themselves fit and fine. Such a huge demand has definitely affected the business of dealers who were dealing in fitness equipments. There has been sudden shortage of equipments in market. Dealers have made a lot of profit during strict lockdown imposed due to Covid 19. Demand of fitness bands & electronic fitness trackers has noticed a sudden boom. Fitness experts believe that such high demand has been highest of all times in India. This culture of Indoor Fitness is a western concept. Fitness and health experts also opine that E learning can also be seen in this area as well. In fact, gym owners have adopted a new frontline role in this pandemic of Covid 19. They are telling people different strategies and ways to keep healthy. Business and marketing is being done on web and app based applications as well. Personal trainers and gym owners has started online fitness facilities and sessions. They are creating digital platforms where they are educating and training people about correct way of weight lifting and various ways for keeping them healthy. Fitness sessions are conducted twice or thrice a day by fitness trainers. Most of the fitness trainers and gym owners are encouraging people to buy and propel home fitness equipment market. Personal trainers are playing the role of agent and are helping people to order/buy fitness equipments. Work out at home is currently at a high trend in India.

Secondly, the collapsed growth of fitness industry has brought tensions into the minds of the fitness trainers and gym owners. As the fitness center and gyms are ordered to be closed, fitness trainers and gym owners have no regular source of income. Business has seen a drastic fall which was never expected by stake holders in this industry. Most of the stake holders are at hand to mouth situation, they barely have money to pay rents and other taxes. Monthly membership at gym is a revenue source for gym owners which are currently at hold due to Covid 19. New memberships are uncertain now, only existing members are availing digital facility.

The government can waive off or reduce GST/ taxes, subsidies utility bills in order to keep fitness industry at pace which it used to be.
