Do you remember the shoemaker and the elves' story? Well, I heard someone in the family share this good deed, which made me think of the story because the same deed I'm going to share with you is very similar to the story of the shoemaker and the elves'.

For the individuals who are not familiar with the story here is the recap of the story.

There is this shoemaker that is struggling to make enough shoes to make ends meet and one night after buying some leather he laid it down on his work desk and went to sleep.

As he did this for a few nights every night, there were three elves that would come in at midnight and make shoes for the shoemaker without him knowing. In the end. he finally figured it out and thanked them, After that they never showed up again but at that point, the shoemaker was well off enough to get by the rest of his years.

Now to the good deed that was mentioned. You see my boyfriend's father is unable to shovel the driveway because he has health issues that make it almost impossible for him to do it himself, in fact, he would probably end up putting himself in the hospital if he tried so instead he would get someone in the family to do it for free. In fact, his son in law would do it for him after he got home from a ten-hour shift at work. Then one day his driveway had been mysteriously done when he knew his son in law would still be at work, knowing this he just let it be not knowing who was doing it because he was always asleep when the deed was occurring.

This went on for quite some time until one day where he ended up being awake while this good samaritan was doing his driveway. He went outside and tried to flag the guy done with no prevail for awhile as the guy thought he may have been mad instead of appreciative.

You see normally my boyfriend's dad isn't really a people person at the best of times never mind now with the world being so crazy the way it is.

So he kept trying and after a while, he succeeded, so he asked him if he could pay him. The guy said don't worry about it, it is not really a big deal.

You may think paying for someones coffee is a good deed but I think this story is what it is all about, sure coffee is nice but it is just coffee.

With the world being so upside down right now, the fact that someone would be nice enough to do a bigger gesture than coffee right now is amazing. You can definitely see the resemblances between this story and that of the shoe make and the elves.

With the world being the way it is right now it's fantastic to see someone do a good deed like this instead of just buying someone coffee, it definitely sets a new bar especially because the guy turned down the money.

Being aware that it is not all about money it is still surprising to me since the economics of the world are not great right now.

I strongly believe we should all be more like the guy that helped with the driveway or the elves that helped the shoemaker regardless of the state of the world it would make the world a better place. It just comes down to if we have the skill or knowledge why should we keep it to ourselves and not share with others to help make their life a little easier. In my opini0n no one deserves to suffer so we shouldn't let them.

So what are we waiting for? Let's make the world a better place by us all starting to be more helpful no matter the situation.
