At uPOW (Your Pursuit of Wellness), our main mission is to provide guidance on your personal journey of wellness. While wellness presents itself in many forms, we have identified the 8 fundamental areas of wellness as being: Physical, Intellectual, Professional, Social, Financial, Spiritual, Romantic, and Creative. These areas may seem independent but they are intersectional and often affect each other; if you are neglecting a certain area, then there’s a good chance it will negatively impact another area. Now that we’ve established the 8 areas, let’s take a closer look at each one individually.

Physical Wellness: Physical wellness is all about your body, how it functions, how you fuel it, and how you feel about it. It's not just weightlifting. It's not just going for a run. It's the energy you expend and the energy you replenish. The food you eat, supplements, medicine, endogenous and exogenous factors. This area represents your ability to physically do what you want and possessing the proper guidance to achieve it.

Intellectual Wellness: This area is focused on the ideas that everyone is always learning, that every person is a lifelong student, and that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! This not only includes the practices, skills, and knowledge to make learning easier and more fun, but also to finding what you want to learn about and how to go about getting on the right path. Intellectual wellness doesn’t just apply to formal education, but to practical and everyday education as well.

Professional Wellness: Whether you’re a CEO or an intern, professional wellness applies to everyone. This area covers numerous aspects from answering, “what do you wanna be when you grow up?” to making smart decisions that will aid you on your way to the top. It will also take you through the ins and outs of professional planning, growth, and all the interactions along the way.

Social Wellness: Social Wellness is dedicated to the people we interact with whether they are friends, family, colleagues, mentors, or even strangers! Communication is a key part of life, and this area helps us to feel comfortable in our own skin and have healthy relationships with not only our respective communities, but everyone we encounter.

Financial Wellness: “Money makes the world go ‘round” but also, “Money is the root of all evil”. If that confuses you, you’re not alone! Financial Wellness is devoted to learning the ups and downs of finances: saving, investing, taxes, generational wealth, how to get out of debt, etc. It’s all about dollars and cents, and this area helps dollars make sense!

Spiritual Wellness: Spiritual Wellness applies not only to the devoutly religious, but to those without religion and everyone in between. Whether you believe in monotheism, polytheism, crystals, hallucinogenic drugs, or meditation, it’s all about finding and exploring what connects you to yourself, your values, and the universe around you.

Romantic Wellness: This area is centered around developing and having positive and consenting romantic interactions. There is no right or wrong answer in this area; it’s all about discovering what works for you!

Creative Wellness: Being creative not only applies to orthodox crafts such as painting, writing, and sculpting, but to tattoos, crafting beer, or even web design. Whatever activity gives you a creative outlet is covered under this area and it’s all about going on a personal journey to see what makes you passionate!

Knowing and understanding all 8 areas of wellness is the first step on the path of wellness, and uPOW is here to provide guidance through the rest of your personal journey. Our Podcast and articles provide more in-depth information on each area of wellness with the aid of experts.
