100 Days Without Alcohol- Challenge Completed! Pt. 1
Well I can honestly say that me 8 months ago would not have predicted attempting the 100 day sober challenge, let alone completing it. And yet here I am, having successfully run through the finishing line ribbon. The road has been long, difficult and, spoiler alert, absolutely worth it. Anyone who knows me would be forgiven for having had their doubts. It’s the first challenge I’ve completed of its kind in my adult life, save perhaps when I was prepping for my MMA fights. I am not someone who barely drank and for whom this challenge was an easy adjustment. Neither am I someone who had hit rock bottom and had no choice. I, like most people for whom drinking is the norm, didn’t know if it was possible for me to go entirely without this most socially acceptable of drugs, and questioned what that would mean for my life.

The widening part mocked me, and the receding hairline whispered secrets I didn’t want to hear.

Beneath the Surface: A Journey to Reclaiming Hair
It’s funny how life’s pivotal moments often find you in the most mundane places. For me, it was in the bathroom, under the harsh glare of fluorescent lights, that I faced a truth I’d been dodging: my hair was retreating faster than a tide going out.

The Red Light Revelation: How My Back Labor Became a Dance of Healing
Chapter 1: The Uninvited Guest It was a Tuesday—the kind of day that starts with burnt toast and ends with a broken shoelace. Back labor, they called it. A cruel twist of fate that made my sacrum feel like it was doing the cha-cha with a cactus.

Ambiguous Loss & Body Image
Something that comes up in my work with clients often (and that I didn’t anticipate ever seeing as a dietitian) is the desire to improve body image while also feeling really frustrated that the body isn’t getting smaller via nutrition and self-care. More and more I’ve come to identify this as part of grief and loss work, and as I was pursuing my Graduate Certificate in Sexual Health a term that came up was “ambiguous loss”.
