Takeaways from 2 Years of Duolingo Spanish. Top Story - June 2024. Content Warning.
Two years ago on this date, I downloaded the Duolingo app for approximately the 15th time. When I’d been inspired to try brushing up on my Spanish in the past, I’d start out hot and heavy only to sputter out after a few weeks of enthusiasm and dedication.

Things to Know About Taking Testosterone
Happy Pride Month! Pride has a long and rich history, following the Stonewall riots in 1968 but beginning in many smaller moments earlier than this. We have a lot of people and populations to thank for their fight and sacrifices to be where we are today, and have a lot of work to continue doing. Talking about Pride month is an entire post in and of itself (and while I’d be honoured to write about it, I know for a fact there are other voices that need to be amplified over mine - I’ll be linking a few great resources at the end here).

Learning and Growing in the Garden
I live in Florida even though I was born in New Jersey and lived up north for the first 11 years of my life. I can deal with snow, but I don't like driving in it. I learned how to drive in Florida, so snow driving scares me. It's funny to me, or ironic, that New Jersey is also known as The Garden State. If you've ever seen the majority of New Jersey you'd think that was funny also. It's very different from Florida in regards to scenery. They don't have much in common except for both having beaches, both having overpriced housing, and both having corporate businesses like restaurants we all know and love. Besides that they are like night and day. What does that have to do with my "Growing in the Garden" article? A lot actually. I grew up in both places and if I compare myself to a plant, a tree, or a flower, then it's important for me to think about how I grew in a tropical climate with a different type of soil, compared to a four seasons location where the soil is much richer.

How Taking Notes Like Toddler is Helping My ADHD & Mental Health
I have been a terrible student for as long as I can remember. I struggled with just about every aspect of school lessons. My teachers thought I was lazy, and I thought I was stupid. I have a vivid memory of the third grade, as the girl next to me was breezing through the assignment while I struggled with completing the first line. She looked right at me and asked, “Are you stupid?” She was dead serious, and I was crushed.
