The How To's to Deal w/ Stress in Today's Changing World.

This "thing" called stress is something that is very reoccurring in todays world. Something that I have had my share of battles with on a day to day basis. It is like "a battle of the noises". Will you be caught by the attention of the quiet & peaceful sounds of stillness or by the chaotic and destructiv noises of catastrophe and destruction.

For me, I choose the later, but with a bit of sound mindedness.

I like to pick the example of an athlete, in this case a college football athlete.

Young, Ambitous, Skillful, Athletic, & Courageous --- along with an edge of course.

With the crowd yelling and screaming with all the joy and exictement being blasted from the bleachers and skyrise seats, they enjoy the jukes of the running backs, and receivers, the silence of the quarter back throwing a spiral down the field, and the claps between football pads and helmets. Amazing right ? Well to get into the in depth, in the zone, tunnel vision of an RB, especially an Running Back, the amount of skill you have to have to block out all the noise with the helmet on and find holes to blast through when running, is a talent, nontheless a God-given talent to acquire.

Just by saying block out the noise is easier said then done.

Using the example of the Running Back, they have had to have had countless hours on the field, early mornings in the weightroom to get stronger, and plenty of food and sleep to recharge while getting ready for the big game.

They are in the zone a few yards from the line of scrimmage ready to take off up the field and from the looks of things they are, what athletes like to call, "Locked-In". The running back takes off runs past the lineman, dodging linebackers, safeties and corners and is up the field for a touchdown. The crowd cheers.

Now how does an athlete attain this kind of gift to become so "Locked-In" ?

Well, my question to that is, have you ever got in a fight before ?

The fighting spirit kicks in, when you are confronted by a threat. Every animal and human being has this fighting spirit, some stronger, than others, but its there. You can feel it when something stressful happens and you try to combat it in a way where you can diffuse the situation.

So, how do you deal with it you may ask.

I'll tell you.

Move without thinking

Sometimes what the stress tries to do is paraliyze, you physically before it can paralyze you mentally. Depending on the person, your physically body, other than your head, will sometimes react to things then your mind does. Your mind requires you to think then act.

I'll use myself (the writer of this story, pretty cool right ?)

I work at a grocery store and while working at the grocery store, sometimes there are loud customers, both young and old. Sometimes the victim of the loud customers are paralyzed due the loud noise and are also thinking about there own lives and the stressors that bother them.

One of the ways to combat this issue to is to move with out thinking. For example, for me it is like an instinct that I have to combat stressors such as loud customers. Meaning that I have the unction and will to attack or defend myself if I am in harms way. Now depending on the situtation, if its something minor as kid not having his way in the grocery store with there parents, I would speak to the kid. Most kids these days don't have good examples of how to handle or carry themselves, because they havn't seen someone handle or carry themselves in an honorable way.

True story, I would talk to the parent of the child and see if they were ok. They would tell me how the child was and I would kindly speak to a child. Now I'm 27, and when kids look up to young adults, they get a sense of togetherness or inspiration of a young person looking up to another younger person, just bigger, lol.

That's just one example. The second example is an adult. From a younger person to an older person, some older people and younger people have stress in there life due to their upbringing and demographic of where they live. Doesn't matter if they lived in the hood/ghettos to the suburbs, everybody has problems, but what makes the difference is how well those people take care of those problems and rise above them in the midst of it.

True story, a customer enters my register, you would think that most adults would be adults, but this time they are........ well.... complicated. Some come with there problems and issues around with them. Me being a younger adult I speak to the person wanting to purchase something at the cash register. I see that they don't have anyone to talk to. Just going with the flow as usual, not changing the reality of the person, no spark of inspiration, or anything for that matter. What I try to do is help them out in small ways.

This is a lot deeper when you talk a person who has problems in there life, but at the same time they just so happen to have needed you to be lighthearted about their situation, without causing any havoc or issues.

This is what I like to call "Soft Talk"

So what I mean by soft talk, is talking soft to the individual, speaking kindly, and being gentle. Almost like a parent to a baby.

Now in hindsight, people on the outside of the convo with the adult I'm having a conversation with, catches wind of it and a light bulb goes off and realizes, "this person is trying to help".

So overall the whole moral of this story is to move without thinking and soft talk when dealing with stressful situations.

I hope this encourages you to deal with stressful situations effectively.

Stay Encouraged.
