Considering the terrifying pace at which the coronavirus is spreading among the communities, many governments across the world have requested the citizens to follow social distancing or to opt for self-isolation.

This as a result has made most of us, if not all, spend the majority of our time at home. It is already coming into notice that some of the fitness freaks around us have started to panic as there are fewer to zero chances in order to stay physically fit. All those who are in a habit to go jogging, cycling, enjoying outdoor activities/games, are the ones most affected by this lockdown.

However, there should absolutely be no need to panic as this duration of self-isolation could be the best time to work on our health staying inside and bonding with our family, all over again.

In order for our mind and bodies to stay well and function properly, we should practice different kinds of workout sessions to prevent gaining unnecessary weight and keep the spirits at its highest!

How physically active do we need to stay?

The World Health Organization suggests 150 minutes of moderately intensive workout or a total of 75 hours of vigorous exercise per week and muscle strengthening workout sessions twice or thrice a week.

How to go about it?

1. Bring brisk walking into practice as simple as it may sound, brisk walks have always been the best way to maintain and lead a healthier life! It will help you watch your weight, tone your calf muscles, keep you active, and to keep the blood circulation going. All this boils down to help us in managing heart disease, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes.

2. Always stay on your toes! Although most of us office-goers have been asked to work from home, we should not be using this as an excuse to keep sitting in front of our laptops for disturbingly long durations. Neither are we supposed to sit in front of our television sets for several hours to keep us engaged and entertained. It’s advisable to take regular breaks of at least 20-30 minutes to keep your mind healthy and body active.

3. Stairway to heaven Yes! That staircase in our house would prove to be nothing but god send if we learn how to put it to best use other than obviously, climbing stores! So, let’s wear our earphones and start climbing those stairs that will lead you straight to a healthier body and a happier mind.

4. Yoga sessions with family what’s better than working on your mind and body along with renewing the bond with your loved ones? We would highly recommend kicking start the day with performing some basic yoga poses that all the family members could easily follow and execute.
