Self Defense Ideas Every Woman Should Consider

Ideas of how to stay safe as a Woman.

You’re not safe anywhere. You can’t go to work and feel perfectly at ease because all it takes is one evil person with an ax to grind. It could be the guy in your building who always gets a little too close for comfort, and suddenly you find yourself in harm’s way. It doesn’t take much these days to make us uncomfortable when we leave our homes each morning. But an awareness of how best to defend ourselves if attacked should match that fear. There isn’t any guaranteed self-defense method out there that will work in every situation, but here are some ideas of how to stay safe.

Tips for getting away from an assailant:

  • Be aware of your surroundings and what’s going on around you - this is the first step to self-defense.
  • Stay alert while walking or running near traffic. If any cars slow down or honk at you for no reason, consider crossing to the other side of the street and continuing with caution.
  • If someone comes up behind you when waiting at a crosswalk, keep moving forward instead of turning around because they might have something weaponized in their hands like pepper spray or a knife. Stand close enough to others so that they can be alerted but not too close where it could appear as though you’re following them.
  • Always carry a cellphone with you. It’s the best way to contact someone if something goes wrong and you need help, but be sure that your battery is fully charged before heading out on your own.
  • Carry personal safety devices like pepper spray or knives. These can come in handy when faced with an attacker who may not want to go down without causing some damage. Not every self-defense device works for everyone as they are designed differently for different people. Thus, read up about what might work best for you and try out various models until you find one with all the features you want from it. Some factors to consider while choosing include size, weight, how quickly it takes effect?
  • A Glock 43 can be a woman’s best friend in self-defense. This pistol is small and lightweight, making it easy for just about anyone to conceal the gun under clothing or in a handbag. It also is one of the most powerful pistols you can buy because Glock doesn’t waste time with whimsical features. That contributes nothing practical enough for real-life use. It fires up to nine rounds per second, so your chances of surviving increase dramatically if you’re attacked by multiple people armed with knives or guns! Also, this pistol requires more maintenance than some other handguns. But this isn’t necessarily something women should avoid considering. If you’re willing to take the time, this is a gun that could save your life.
  • If you’re attacked, try to get away from your attacker as quickly as possible by using whatever means necessary if you can’t escape the situation and need a last resort. Use any object at hand - like a pen or nail file if nothing else is available to defend yourself against an attack. It doesn’t matter what it is, just that it’s there and in reach when needed.
  • Most times of sexual assault on women, according to statistics from RAINN (Rape Abuse Incest National Network), most perpetrators are known with their victims, which makes them more likely targets for violence. Take this into account before deciding where you’ll walk alone or go out late at night without protection. Know who may follow you, and take steps to avoid them.
  • If you feel uncomfortable or threatened, yell loudly for help as this may draw attention from passersby who can come to your aid. You have nothing to be ashamed of - we all need a little help now and then.
  • Remember that it is not the victim’s responsibility if they are attacked. It’s always the perpetrator’s fault, no matter what form their violence takes. Thus, remember to get out there with confidence, knowing that being prepared might save your life one day.

Final Thoughts

Self-defense isn’t something that should involve weapons like knives or guns but paying close attention while walking around town so as not to walk into potential trouble. Know your surroundings and stay alert to any potential dangers so you can feel safer; when on your own!
