There is no “perfect” diet for everyone, but there are a ton that will not suit you. So be mindful in your search and choose something that specifically caters to your needs and wants.

You may or may not have heard about the paleo diet by now, but we'll dig a little deeper to figure out all that it entails!

The Paleo diet is the healthiest way you can eat because it is the ONLY nutritional approach that works with your genetics to help you stay lean, strong and energetic!

Research has been conducted in ophthalmology, biology, biochemistry, dermatology, and many other fields that conclude it is our modern diet, full of refined foods, sugar, and trans fats, that is at the root of degenerative diseases such as obesity, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, depression, and infertility. – Robb Wolf

Paleolithic Diet Breakdown

The Paleo diet typically includes vegetables, nuts, fruits, roots, meat, and typically excludes foods such as sugar, dairy products, grains, legumes, processed oils, alcohol, salt, and coffee.

However, there is wide variability in the way the paleo diet is interpreted, but it is strongly based on being gluten free, dairy free, and sugar and starch free.

Said to be the world’s healthiest diet, it is based upon a rather fundamental concept which states that the optimal diet is the one to which we are genetically aligned naturally.

Foods to Eat

  • Lean meats (chicken, turkey, lean beef, pork)
  • Seafood (wild caught)
  • Healthy fats (avocado)
  • Nonstarchy vegetables: lettuce, asparagus, green beans, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and spinach
  • Nuts: almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, and pistachios (no peanuts)
  • Seeds: pumpkin and sunflower
  • Eggs
  • Plant-based oils, such as olive, walnut, grapeseed, and coconut oil
  • Fresh fruits: rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients

These are proven to decrease the likelihood of developing a number of degenerative diseases including diabetes, cancer, and neurological decline.

Foods to Avoid

  • Grains (rice, wheat, bread, pasta, oatmeal, breakfast cereals, tortillas, and grits)
  • Dairy (cow's milk, yogurt, ice cream, cheese)
  • Processed foods: doughnuts, hot dogs, canned food, french fries
  • Legumes/beans: no peanuts or peanut butter; no soy foods (such as soy milk, tofu, or edamame), hummus, beans of any kind
  • Starches (macaroni, potatoes, bread, corn, as well as potato and corn chips, tortillas, and popcorn
  • Sugars: no diet soda (worse than regular) or regular soda, honey, jam or jelly, syrup, candy, junk food(cakes, cookies) or energy drinks
  • Salty foods: crackers, chips, pretzels, soy sauce, added-salt foods, or sports drinks
  • Alcohol

Health Benefits of a Paleo Lifestyle

Some folks like to know WHY they are doing something.

Many people, however, are not satisfied with blindly following any recommendations, be it exercise or nutrition related.

Fortunately, the Paleo diet has stood the test of time, and also the rigors of scientific scrutiny over the years.

A list of health benefits include:

  • Enjoy a libido increase
  • Improved mental outlook and clarity
  • Reduce your risk of heart disease/ heart failure
  • The ability to lose weight if you are overweight/obese
  • Improvement in your athletic performance
  • Reversed or slowed down progression of autoimmune disease
  • Improvement or elimination of acne
  • Able to sleep with ease and have more energy throughout the day
  • Reduction of type 2 diabetes, and most chronic degenerative diseases that affect people in the western world
  • Enjoy a healthier, longer, more active life

For most people, the fact that the Paleo diet delivers the best results is all they need. Improved blood lipids, healthy weight loss, and reduced pain from autoimmunity is proof enough of how amazing it is for the human body.

With a very moderate shift we not only eliminate the foods that are at odds with our health (dairy, legumes, and grains) but we also gradually increase our intake of vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals.

The Paleolithic diet was created by the author of this book and is exceptionally written to help enhance your health journey tremendously.

This book is for you if you want to lose fat and stay young, all while avoiding diabetes, cancer, heart disease, Parkinson's, and a slew of other major illnesses.

Dr. Sarah Ballantyne wrote a phenomenal bestseller, inspired by Robb Wolf, the creator of the Paleolithic diet. She focuses largely on the physical body and the state of health that promotes optimal wellness in the most natural humanly possible way.
