1. Intro

I usually feel a bit guilty when I start to write about sleeping because I’m not the best at it. One of my resolutions was to lead a more restful life, but part of my journey to this point has been learning how to have much better quality sleep at the same time.

I know many people who have made a conscious effort to improve their sleep in the past few years, but I can’t say that I’ve ever been one of them. However, there are some simple things that you can do right now that will help you get a better night’s sleep as well as stay healthy while you sleep.

2. The Benefits of Sleep

New Year’s resolutions are a great way to motivate yourself to try something different. But they can also be a great place to work on your health, which is why it is so important to set yourself up for good quality sleep.

There are several things you need to do in order to get more sleep:

Do not distract yourself before bed . If you want the best chance of getting a good night's sleep, make sure you don't have any distractions before bedtime, such as social media or other work-related activities. Try turning off all electronics and lights 30 minutes before bedtime.

If you have the option, get a mattress that is truly supportive and allows for some movement, such as memory foam or latex foam mattresses will support your body better and help you relax into a deeper slumber.

If this isn't an option for you, consider taking supplements before bed such as melatonin or magnesium. These can help reduce stress and improve sleep quality by helping the body produce more melatonin and magnesium in the brain while we are sleeping. Let your body know that it needs rest!

Do not eat right before bed . This may seem counterintuitive since it can be tempting to eat at dinner time so that you can have dinner ready when you get home from work or school. However, if this is too much of a temptation for you, then don't eat right before bed because it will keep your blood sugar levels high after dinner and this can lead to excessive daytime urination due to carb loading overnight.

Try not eating any food at all between midnight and six o'clock in the morning . This one seems obvious but one of the worst things any person on medication can do is wake up early in the morning and snack on junk food which leads to an increase in blood sugar levels overnight which leads to more daytime urination , which then results in even more nighttime urination during the day . It may also result in an increase of appetite at night leading to weight gain .

Try not sleeping during the day . One thing that contributes most significantly toward weight gain is lack of adequate sleep , either having poor quality sleeping or having too much sedentary time during our busy days . Consider having exercise sessions during your leisure time instead of waking up early , especially if you have other areas that need attention in terms of health like physical fitness where you might be able to stay active around midday (e.g., swimming) while still being able

3. How to Get a Good Night's Sleep

Sleep is important for the brain. Your brain can't function properly without your restful, restorative sleep. Longer hours of sleep are better for your health and well-being by reducing stress, improving blood flow, and increasing mental clarity.

If you want to improve your sleep habits and get a better quality of sleep in 2017, the best way to do it is to avoid the following activities before bed:

● Don't read before bedtime

● Don't watch TV or other screens before bed time

● Don't use computers or smartphones after going to bed

● Avoid caffeine and alcohol at least two hours before bedtime

● Avoid vigorous exercise at least two hours before bedtime. Even light exercise helps keep you up for a few more hours. This will help you get good quality sleep during the night. It also helps reduce stress for better rest.

4. How to Relax Before Bed

You can’t sleep when you’re dead. And no, we’re not talking about your favorite shows. It’s not even a movie that comes to mind. We’re talking about how one of the most fundamental aspects of a healthy lifestyle is how you sleep.

If you just added up all of the hours you’ve spent sleeping when you aren’t on the job, it would be more than double the amount of time spent awake and productive (as opposed to being down for maximum amount of time.) You probably already know that the quality of sleep is an important factor in weight loss, improving productivity at work, and long-term health. But have a look at these stats:

A study published in Sleep noted that insomnia may be a risk factor for obesity and also contributed to poor workplace performance. It is also important to note that obesity is linked with increased risks for diabetes, heart disease, and cancer; researchers predict that over 3 million Americans will become obese by 2030 due to the increase in sedentary lifestyles and lack of access to physical activity.

It's not just that you'll put on weight if you don't get enough sleep; it's also bad news if your workplace has poor working conditions and noise levels impairing your ability to concentrate or fall asleep. In fact, your body clock tells your brain when to wake up as well as when it should go back down for sleep .

That means if you are going to achieve the best possible results from any health initiative, making sure you get enough rest is critical .

5. Creating a Relaxing Sleep Environment

One of the most important things for you, as a consumer, to do this New Year's is to create a relaxing environment for yourself before bed. This can be achieved by avoiding distracting activities before bedtime and creating a relaxing sleep environment. If you are unable to sleep in your own bed, ask your family or friends to sleep with you.

However, if you do not have a home where family members will be sleeping with you, it is advisable that you find a hotel that offers adequate security against potential threats from the outside world.

If it is too late to create these conditions and still wish to set an ambitious New Year's resolution, there are several ways in which one can achieve significant improvements in their quality of sleep. These include:

6. Conclusion

In the very beginning of the year, we all begin by waking up with a hangover. A headache that makes us feel like we’re going to die. Your body is already tired and you’re already too exhausted to do anything more than sleep. The only thing you want is to wake up.

This new year resolution is about getting enough sleep for the rest of your life. Your body will tell you, so you should listen to it .

The truth is that a good night's sleep can help prevent you from being sick in the first place and can keep your immune system strong enough to fight off disease throughout your entire life.

What’s more, insomnia and fatigue are common reasons why people have difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep at night because they simply don’t have enough quality time with their families or friends. When you get a proper nights rest, it will feel so much nicer at morning and make life so much easier. Plus, research has shown that getting better sleep makes us happier and healthier than staying on top of things all day long .
