My Favorite Eco-Friendly Brands

My top 8 favorite eco-friendly brands that we should all support.

Hey guys what’s up? Feel like making small changes in your life to help save the environment? Here are some brands with a good cause that we should all support and throw our money at rather than the large corporations that are destroying the environment.

I think it is super important to support these brands because our planet is dying. We only have one Earth and we must protect it and help it thrive. Making a purchase from one of these brands will not solve everything but if everyone makes this switch, it will definitely have an impact.

1. Lush

I love Lush!!! I feel like everyone knows them from their bath bombs, but they have so much more that that. I personally love their hot oil hair treatments, but also they do skincare, hair stuff, toothpaste, shaving creams, lotion and body soap. They got all the beauty products. And the best thing is that 100% of their products are vegetarian and 80% are vegan. They also have a "naked" line which just means those products come in naked packaging (no plastic). I’ve been meaning to try out their shampoo bars, but I found one from Shea Moisture that I really like. But Lush has really good reviews and all of their products smell amazing.

2. Ivory Ella

This brand is dedicated to saving the elephants, in case you couldn’t tell by their logo 😜. There is a huge elephant crisis and Ivory Ella is donating 10% of their profits to save them (and to other charitable causes too, but mostly the elephants). They mostly sell cute T-shirts like this, but they also have leggings and shorts and tank tops. They just launched a new line of backpacks and lanyards, and for every backpack sold they donate one to a child in need. So far Ivory Ella has been able to donate over $1.7 million USD over the past four years to their causes. I think that is rather impressive.

3. Sand Cloud

I originally wasn’t gonna write about this brand only because I forgot about them 😬. But they are pretty much like Ivory Ella except they are all about #savethefishies. Every purchase helps save a marine life (10% of profits) and they are very dedicated to cleaning up the ocean. They sell T-shirts but also beach towels, accessories, reusable water bottles and backpacks.

4. By The Sea Swimwear

This is a family-owned business who created environmentally friendly and ethically conscious bikinis. They make bikinis for full grown women and tiny little children. The bikinis are rather expensive though. For a kids bathing suit, it’s about $40-$45 USD. For a women’s bathing suit, it can cost anywhere between $50-$105 USD depending on if it’s a one piece or two piece. But creating these beautiful bikinis out of recycled and sustainable materials is a crucial element to the family and their business. Each suit is made from 100% recycled polyamide fibers and the quality is amazing.

5. Vivo Barefoot

Not all of the sneakers this brand makes are eco-friendly, but their Primus Lite II Bio is actually made from plants. Over 30% is made from natural plant-based material. The shoe is kinda expensive though. If you’re a shoe head, then it’s probably at a normal price, but if you’re broke like me, then it’s kinda ridiculous how much these sneakers cost. They cost $160 USD. I’m totally down for paying more for eco-friendly products but I’m gonna have to save up for that one. Anyways, this company’s goal is to make an Earth positive shoe and although these sneakers are not perfect, it is a step in the right direction. And I love that mindset. As they say on their website it is “better to innovate for good, than to stand still.”

6. Biodynamic Coffee

This is gonna be my mom's Christmas presents this year. She loves coffee, but I’m more of a tea drinker. If you’re a coffee drinker, then I highly recommend supporting this brand. All of their coffee is direct trade and comes from a Demeter certified biodynamic farm. Biodynamic farm means that the farms do not use any herbicides, fungicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers. They use several principles to nurture soil, animals and plants which is regenerative to the planets ecosystem. The coffee also comes in compostable packaging. All around it’s just a win-win situation. Good for the environment and good coffee for you.

7. Pure Club Toilet Paper

Everyone uses toilet paper, so everyone should make the switch to tree-free toilet paper, like this one. Pure Planet makes 3-ply, tree-free, plastic free toilet paper. So instead of killing all of our trees and destroying our rainforests, this toilet paper is made from renewable bamboo and sugarcane waste. And it probably gets the job done just as good as regular toilet paper. I plan on buying this kind of toilet paper more often.

8. Pela Case

Do you have a phone? That’s a dumb question. It’s 2019, even small children have smartphones now. This brand sells compostable phone cases and sunglasses. Their phone cases are honestly so cute. And they make cases for iPhone and android users. These cases eliminate the use of plastic cases that everyone uses for their phones. The cases are made from compostable materials which reduces landfill waste and they use plastic-free packaging. They also have a Pela Cycle program where you can send your case back so they can recycle them and create another generation of products. And, of course, Pela Case donates a percentage of their sales to non-profit environmental organizations.

So those are eight brands that you can start shopping at today to help the environment. There are so many more out there that I want to talk about, but I don’t want this post to be too long. I highly encourage you to check out these brands. I’m broke, so I know it’s hard to support brands like this, especially since they are so expensive, but I fully intend to in the future, and I hope you do too.
