Misconceptions Of Nudism

An Ongoing Battle Against Society

Nudism has been around for thousands of years, but a lot of people are afraid to speak about it. I mean, it's not hard to take your clothes off and I think people have the wrong idea of what it actually means. In this article, I would like to share with you some of the misconceptions surrounding nudist lifestyle to provide more insight and perhaps help you make a decision on whether this lifestyle is right for you.

When we think of the nude body, we as a society automatically associate it with sex. We think that because we are nude, it is a gateway to some steamy pornographic action. NO! Nudism is about getting in touch with your natural self. We were not born with clothes on, and in my personal opinion I believe it was society itself who made it where we have to cover ourselves just to fit in, which is completely absurd.

Another big misconception is that we are naked all the time. Many nudists hold regular jobs and have to go out into the public every day. Unless you work at a resort, chances are you're going to have to put on clothes. However, we take the opportunity to be naked whenever we can and wherever we can.

It is also not polite to make comments on one's appearance. Though it may not be meant in a malicious manner, it still promotes the message that they are being looked at in a sexual manner and often makes one uncomfortable. Instead, it's best to talk about things that are not related to the person. What is your favorite music? Favorite movies? Things that aren't related to physical appearance. It will definitely get you further on your journey.

Staring is also a big no no! Now, this is different in some cases. For example, some with disabilities like myself have trouble controlling their eyes so most likely we are going to look. To combat this, I view the human body as you would a painting. Each body is uniquely beautiful in its own way. I believe that the human body can be artistic and though admiring is not necessarily proper, in certain cases you can't help it. So, why not view it differently to avoid any awkwardness?

Like paintings, we don't judge the artist for making a mistake with a brush stroke, so why would we judge a person for their body shape or size? When we make comments good or bad, that's exactly what we're doing is judging which is wrong in the eyes of a nudist. We can think to ourselves whatever we wish, but that's where it should stay. I believe that the reason most women are afraid to be nudists is because men tend to make comments about their appearance. Think of it like this. If you think of a comment, think about it from a negative standpoint for a second. If it sounds wrong from a negative standpoint, it is most likely inappropriate to say at all. The idea of nudism is completely non-sexual, and Society in general has had the wrong idea for many years. There is absolutely no harm and being naked. We were born this way.

Nude life isn't for everyone, but if you apply the right practices, it can be a rewarding experience to get together with a group of people, have fun, great conversations, and be comfortable while doing so. The only way the movement will grow is if we treat each other respectively. The body is our shell, and it shall not be covered. Let's Learn to Love More, laugh more, and live free!
