Thoth Tarot Cards

Today while shuffling the cards for this week’s reading, one card popped out on the very first shuffle so I decided to keep that one and started shuffling again. One more popped so I kept that one too and wouldn’t you know it, one more popped so I thought I’d just roll with them. I love when the Universe gives me a tap or a shove or knocks the cards out of my hands.

The Center card this week is the 2 of Cups.

Often when we have something to say and want to get our message across clearly, we roll the thoughts and concepts around in our heads and look for the right words to use so that what we say will be heard, recognized and hopefully understood. In doing this we can come up with some great words and beautiful recitation but we can also lose the heartfelt honesty that created the message in the first place. This week however, with the 2 of Cups at the center, that will not be an issue. Our hearts are fully involved and whether there is love, confusion, pain, anger or excitement behind the words they are heard. And because our hearts Are involved, whatever “negative” or “undesirable” basis may be at the hub of the communication, the likelihood that whoever we’re talking to will get the wrong idea, take it personally or feel offended by our expressions of truth are relatively low. Those we interact with will feel the honesty we’re reaching for and see our statements for what they are.

The West card is the Emperor.

As The Empress is the symbol of divine femininity, The Emperor is the symbol of the divine masculine. She represents the connection between body and soul, the balance and harmony there. He shows us the strength we have to explore new possibilities and find ways to incorporate them into our body/soul experience. Within that strength we find the ability to shift a roiling sea of confusion into the calm harbor of understanding and see the possibility of shifting the poison of exclusion and misunderstanding to the life giving water of compassion. With The Emperor we find the strength to govern the Self, to transcend worldly feelings, distractions and desire for acceptance (at any cost) and employ a greater wisdom. We recognize inconsequential distractions and pettiness and rise above.

The East card is the 6 of Cups.

In this card all the cups are connected. The emotions they represent are complex, intricate and intertwined in a network of pliable, emotional and empathic options. Having embraced the honest and essential feelings we want and/or need to share and tapped into the inner guidance and fortitude of the Emperor we find ourselves ready to speak up. Whether it’s as simple as telling that special person, “I love that you nurture me by bringing me coffee every morning, but you know, I really don’t like coffee. I’m a tea drinker.” Or as complex as telling your boss, “I have a problem with the way you treat person X. It goes against my principles and I don’t want to be a part of it or see it continue.” Our ability to communicate the truth as we see it feels accurate, equitable and necessary.

In Conclusion;

Our power this week comes from the depths of our sense of integrity and a desire to speak the truth in a way that will be heard, understood and embraced. With the strength and resolve of the Emperor we find ways to overcome petty fears, herd-thinking and self deprecation to make our statements clear, concise and direct. In being able to express what’s important to us we recognize the network of connection and interwoven realities of the exchanges we find ourselves in. From one on one to speaking out to the world we find the words, the strength and the continuity of thought to be received and understood.

Have a week of well voiced integrity.

Light, Tory

TIP for the week: Integrity is telling myself the truth. Honesty is telling the truth to other people. Spencer Johnson
